DC Candidates?

So let me get this straight.... We bring in Shoop and he brings in Josh Gattis (WR Coach) and Jim Haslett (LB Coach/Defensive Consultant) and we lose Thig and WM? Why would we not lose Thig and CZA since Gattis coaches WR's? I love the idea of Shoop, but I hate the idea of losing Thig. He's a great recruiter and a good LB coach as well. Is there anyway we could keep Thig or have Haslett move into his same consultant role? Just curious

I have heard rumor of a growing rift between Thig and Buck Fitzgerald, which as you may or may not know, is a key contact with the booming list of prospects from the midstate. Thig also burnt the bridge with Van Jefferson by calling his mother a b!tch within earshot of her IIRC.

This guy could be fun and he was awesome as a DC in college.

Me thinks though dost protest too much.

FTR, the quote is "The lady doth protest too much, methinks."

And there's a pretty good chance that the manner Gertrude was using that line wasn't the way most people use it today. It's left ambiguous, but it can be read as Gertrude deriding Hamlet for making the character representing her in his play too flamboyant or gushy.

It's not a great quote to use in this scenario. I don't have a dog in this debate btw. Just wanted to set the record straight for ole Bill :good!:

That's why every sec team except Fla kicked their arse.

That's not the point. You called it a down year for their conference, which it wasn't. It was the strongest their conference has been in years. That doesn't mean the conference itself is great. The two issues aren't mutually exclusive. The Big 10 can pale in comparison to the SEC and still be the strongest it has been in years.

When you compare to SEC this year they did not do well in bowls this year as compared to last. So yes down would be acurate.

We sucked where you been.

Been right here through all the s### years, if u dont like shoop and he's hired find a new team to cheer for. His defensive rankings are hard to b**** about. He's a definite upgrade. Hell, if he's the DC this year this team may have won the sec

That's not good. I heard about him and Buck but wasn't sure of the details. Thig may be out.

I'm not comparing the Big 10 to the SEC, and neither were you if your words are taken literally (though you may have meant to).

You literally said it was a down year for the Big 10. That is NOT accurate. It is the best the Big 10 has been in quite some time. Has nothing to do with the SEC, Pac-12, OVC, or otherwise.

If you don't get it by now, you probably need to just cut your losses.

Uga scored more pts against a more talented ut team then against PSU. He also shut down high flying ut offenses with candy talent

Comparing UGA's scoring against UT and PSU:

UT

17 offenesive
7 handed to them by refs on punt return
7 handed to them by a TO caused by the devil himself

PSU

24 offensive

I honestly don't know why some people keep touting that UGA's offense scored more points against UT than PSU. Three minutes of research reveals the truth. Why would you even have to do research if you're a Vol fan for our contest against UGA in the first place?

Now, maybe total yards may be a totally different conversation. But basing differences on offensive scoring alone is futile in you argument.
