Georgia had way more talent than PSU and so did NW. What part of that don't you get? Take a look at Shoop last 5 years. Very very solid top 25 defenses.

His body of work for the last 5 years(2 at psu and 3 at vandy) all five years his defenses have finished in the top 25 in total defense. 4 of the 5 on the top 20 and once finished 2nd. This with Penn State and Vandy talent. Pretty impressive to me.

Exactly! You could take Bill Belichick and put him in college, best coach arguably around in all of football, but if you give the guy no talent and no real speed, nothing to work with and even he'll get smoked. You give Shoop this roster and our recruiting tools and sit back and watch. He would be a very solid hire.

I would agree 100%. Chizik would be a close 2nd due to his championship and recruiting.

So let me get this straight.... We bring in Shoop and he brings in Josh Gattis (WR Coach) and Jim Haslett (LB Coach/Defensive Consultant) and we lose Thig and WM? Why would we not lose Thig and CZA since Gattis coaches WR's? I love the idea of Shoop, but I hate the idea of losing Thig. He's a great recruiter and a good LB coach as well. Is there anyway we could keep Thig or have Haslett move into his same consultant role? Just curious

Yeah, it may work out later on but we don't have the personnel to run that right now. Jmo
