DC Candidates?

Listen...last year we needed an OC. and Butch kept on talking about consistency in the program, terminology, philosophy, bla bla..

It's gonna be IN-HOUSE.

Maintaining consistency in a complicated offense is a lot different than a 4-3 defense so i have to disagree with you.
We can get any GOOD 4-3 defensive coach and keep our consistency.

it seems the list, at least as constructed here, looks like this, in no particular order:

Chizik
Shoop
Hoke
Foster
Chavis
Hobby
Orlando
Martinez
Stripling
L. Smith
Wilcox
Pellini

in the end, i think it's Hoke, Shoop or Chizik.

You don't just randomly start following another schools DC. He might not come here but its obvious we are making a strong push for him imo

If those guys are from the midstate area, they likely followed him when he was recruiting them to Vandy.

Swain is loving the idea of Chizik this morning. Obviously, thinks Shoop would be a great choice. Also discussed Pitt's DC who used to be a safeties cosch at UT a few years ago...Josh Conklin.

I don't see the love for Shoop. He would not be in my top 5.

My list

Chizik
Orlando
Pellini
Chavis
Wilcox

Of those I think the most realistic is Pellini. IMO, he would be a good fit for Butch.

Didn't someone post last night about a Chizik announcement today?

Tennessee fans have an abysmal history of evaluating defensive coordinators. Jancek was a good coordinator, Wilcox was a better coordinator, and Chavis was an excellent coordinator. Even in Fulmer's last year, Chavis had a top 10 defense. That defense, btw, was on the field most of the time because the offense was a trainwreck.

As for replacements for Jancek--
1. Chavis
2. Shoop
3. Wilcox
4. A proven coordinator under the radar who has a top 25 defense in 2015

I dont get the love for Orlando? He had one good game against a one dimensional FSU team, they were with out their starting QB.

Should've watched the other games last season. That D was serious! Herman had Houston's offense humming but in the games I caught, the defense set the aggressive tone..
