Come on man. It's not a name like Shoop, but Chizik is one of the better defensive minds in the country and would be a pretty big upgrade from Jancek. I could only imagine what Chizik will do with the talent and athletes that we have on defense.

Chizik may be a back up plan but everyone I know is saying Shoop was all but done before Jancek was let go. This was late last week before there was anything but smoke about Jancek leaving.

Lots of us don't want to sift through 50 pages to find real info on the DC search. Please post only info, and wikipedia doesn't count as info. Go Vols.

I'd have to believe that is the case. I'd be on board with Chizik if it wasn't Shoop.

Just couldn't handle Brady Hoke....

I can't give up the name but it is a starter on the defensive from this past year! A friend of mine texted him immediately when the word came down and he simply said this is a good thing.

Haven't heard anything about that. I am certainly no insider lol but have several friends that are former players and a couple lower level staff members and all seem to think the same thing. They were right about Jancek so I hope they are right about Shoop. I believe him to be one of the best in the country. Our defense would be scary under him. Monday evening would be a nice time to announce it too if everything comes together like I think it will.
