DC Candidates?

If he comes to UT wins a championship or two then leaves to be a HC, I'll gladly take it.

Yeah, me, too, but I like continuity. Maybe we get lucky on both counts and he turns out like Chavis and has no HC aspirations. Or maybe I'm just paranoid he'll leave after one year and leave us in the lurch scrambling for a decent replacement ala Lame.

Shoop just started following Butch on Twitter. And per some random source on Twitter, he will be announced on Monday for a 3 year, 4 million dollar deal. TIFWIW

PSU rival boards believe shoop is out to UT.

I have a very strong reason to believe that unless something happens at PSU in the next few hours, Shoop will be heading to Knoxville. I am hearing 1.1 million is his 1st year pay (plus his buyout) going up to 1.5 in years 2 and 3 (Tennessee gives raises based on performance every year).
Tennessee is not paying its assistant coaches anywhere near what they can pay. Almost everyone on that staff was given double what they made previous going to UT.
The OC is a close personal friend of Butch's he declined higher pay in previous years, but took the job Butch offered out of friendship - the money wasn't a factor for him at all.
The TE's coach is being paid a lot more then the one that left UT for a head coaching job.

Tennessee has seen a opportunity for a NC season in 2016, and they don't want what happened in 2015 to repeat itself. UT had Bama, UF, and OU beat, but the defense collapsed late in the game. Mostly the run Defense.

His name really isn't being mentioned on other sites as a candidate. I hope he gets a legit look. It has been mentioned that Butch is in no hurry and will wait until the dead period or after to name a DC. This would seem to work in Hobby's favor since he will be coaching in an NC next week.

But idk...I still think we are going for an established DC since the stakes are so high.

Just saying I've heard Doug Mathews, Jayson Swain and Jimmy Hyams mention his name early on as a potential candidate. Not sure where Jones would rank him or anybody else as a viable candidate at this point as he's truly the only one who really knows and anything else is just speculation.

How many rings does Saban have? How many of his coordinators are HC's now?

My goal in my business has been to train everyone else to be my replacement and good coaches take that same approach. If you are not hiring coordinators that would make good Head Coaches then you are doing it wrong imo.

Understand, but in my profession the exact opposite is true. Coach Frank Broyles (the source of the Broyles Award) declared that his toughest job in coaching was continuity and cooperation amongst the ACs. Hard to do if constant turnover is present.

Would be huge!

Some Penn state guy tweeted there are rumors of seeing Dave Hart in the tavern restaurant on W college ave in State College....(just passing what I see)

Butch Jones wasn't lying when he said he wanted to win an National Championship. You get the best coordinators on your staff to make a championship run year & year out. Simple as that.

I guess it depends on the profession. Mine is 100% performance based compensation and the better, more skilled my employees are the more I make. Simple equation to me. I would think coaching would be similar. Main difference is I can be fired with no buyout lol.

Boys and girls I got some great news! And I am not talking about saving any money on any car insurance. This is a huge hire! We should have 2 signing day parties after this happens.

Butch is trying to make the announcement closer to NC game weekend but may not be able to imo. Timing could be huge for defensive recruiting.

Paranoid butchna speaking...I don't want a long weekend in State College. :ermm:
