Did anyone else see him tonight playing for Arkansas State? 30 carries, 131 yards and 3 TDs.

Good to see he got his act together, I guess.

Awesome to see he got his act together. I read an article where the first game he played for Ark State he teared up, not knowing if he would ever play football again. Hope he gets a shot at the Pro's. Sounds like a good kid. Keep it up, David! :good!:

Oh well, good luck to you David Oku, glad you had a good run game at Arky State. Just wished that you hadn't given up at UT for whatever reasons...be that of coaching problems or lack of playing time.

I am a stAte alum and yes - watched the game. I could not help but wonder how good he would have been if he stayed a Vol. Mahlzahn as a head coach would have been a far better choice than Dools. They are in first with MTSU in the Sunbelt and will play them next week. Nobody on here has a right to make fun of the Sunbelt anymore with Troy being a mid-level team in that conference.

Freeze took the team up a notch and Mahlzahn is continuing it. Wish we had Aplin at QB. Man, he is good. That perfect sideline pass completion for 20+ off his back foot in the first half was special. Excellent dual threat guy.

I went to the game. Ark. State's line was opening massive holes for him run through. He is a fan favorite here in NE AR.

Wish him sucess in whatever he does, but his UT legacy will be the "OOOOOkkkkuuu" chant and being a quitter on the football team. I really like seeing these youngsters grow up and get their heads on straight. Too bad they all think they know it all at 18, like we all did.

He quit because he was scared to play in the SEC or to try and compete for playing time against our other RB's.

Doing well when the top competition is MTSU and you're in the Sunbelt doesn't impress me despite what Troy has done this year against my Vols.

I wish the kid well but he'll always be a quitter in my book when he had a great opportunity to try and impress NFL scouts playing in the SEC.

VFL...GBO!!!

I guess it's a good thing that "your book" doesn't count for much. He has the same opportunity to play in the NFL as he's ever had. If you can play, you can play. There's too much exposure in college football to go unnoticed. The scouts will find you. There are notable Sun Belt players who contribute mightily to their teams every Sunday.

I'm sure he would've love to play before those scouts in the NFL, but the bottom line is that if you're an NFL talent, you'll be there; if you aren't, then you won't.

oku was a pure speed back and then got to ut and bulked up and lost a step he would never hit the hole hard and him dancing around in the backfeild really hurt him thats why he lost most of his carries his last year here at ut when him and bryce brown came in i sure thought we would have over 2000 yards rushing and losts of huge gainers seems like i was lucky to see the wku game where brown had his biggest run of 36 yards right to the sidelines insted of cutting back!
