David Cutcliffe says no to Tennessee (from Chris Low)

I appreciate everything Cut has done for the program over the years and I have a lot of respect for him.

Can't say I blame him for not leaving Duke. It will be a good place for him to retire when he feels like it.

Bolt to where? Really doubt there are going to be a ton of big time programs that would have him. UT isn’t the only one aware of his past “issues”. He would stay here and do great

Bolt to where? In the last 3 years alone there have been 35 power 5 head coaching jobs up for grabs. There are 6 just in our conference this year.

Why would you want to work for John Currie if you didn't have to? Cut doesn't have to. No Power 5 coach is coming because of Currie's incompetence. Duke isn't a dominate Power 5 school, but it is a Power 5 school.

Pick any Power 5 coaching gig you want, the head coach won't leave it no matter how bad for here. Duke, Maryland, Wake, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Oregon State - none of them will come here with Currie in charge. Its not the fans.

Everyone can tell he is train wreck that will either get fired, which is bad if you are the HC, or will keep his job, which is worse if you are HC.

He's also like 63 years old. He wouldn't be able to recruit (recruits tend not to want to come when you're retiring in a few years.) Feels like our AD is just flailing around aimlessly at this point. Cutcliffe is a great coach, but the time for hiring him has passed.

Media gets lazy in how they report this stuff. Tennessee had to reach out to Cut to see if he had an interest. Had to. Would be perceived as dereliction of duty not to. That said, they knew the answer before they asked. This was courtesy call and nothing else. Cut knew that, UT knew that - but media is going to pile on in our moment of misery. Nothing to see here.

P.S. Folks, I know its tempting to take on alternate personas in these message boards. And some of you are funny and amusing at first - but continually talking in 3rd person makes you look stupid. Really stupid.

Currie is such an idiot, Cutcliffe should never have been offered the HC at Tennessee:eek:hmy:
