David Cutcliffe says no to Tennessee (from Chris Low)

Hire Lane.

We are literally getting backed in a corner.

I like Lane as an option, but:

1. No way could Currie run that risk now. He can't afford half of the fan base going crazy again and half of the country in hysterical laughter. He has to go much safer now.
2. I highly doubt even Lane would come here now after that sh-t show from this past weekend.

Although I don’t want him either, it’s kind of sad when a former Vol, semi-legend, curmudgeon, doesn’t want our gig and instead wants to stay at Duke, where football dreams go to die.

Lovely.........

Well......do you want a spry geriatric that loves being bowl and bowel eligible. If so then this is indeed a sad day.

On the flip side....we could look at another spry geriatric that has played for 2 NC’s and won one in Les Miles.....if that’s the route they want to take.

Cutcliffe is 63, Miles is 64. Is that considered geriatric these days?

If so, there's another geriatric who is 67. I guarantee he would take the job. He won a national championship too. He could assemble Tee Martin as OC and the Chief as DC.

..and he has no buyout.

WATE reported that Cut said no. In my opinion this is a win-win [for UT and Cut] as we need a better coach and Cut is at where he needs to be.

Florida gave Mullen $36 million over 6 years = $6 million per year. Currie is trying to go cheap by getting a mid-major coach or a coordinator for around $4.5 million annually. Therein lies the problem. We will not get a high quality coach capable of cleaning up the burnt-out dumpster of a program we have until the UTAD is willing to open the vault like Florida did and spend at least between $5.5million to $6.2 million to hire a good, upper level coach.Until then, we will have to put up with the Butch Jones', Derek Dooleys', and Greg Schiano's the UT athletic directors and Haslam dump on our once proud program. Currie is a pompous schmuck who needs to be fired for the mess he has created.

I thought the yank said exciting, expensive and explosive? He is the biggest fraudulent AD in the country. Lie after lie after lie.

How was this a surprise to anyone but new vols fans? He had said the same thing the last three times! Everybody was all for Peyton being the head coach with zero coaching experience and didnt win a title, but the guy who won a title and a top recruiter in the country and has coaching experience gets no love? Hire someone who has coached highschool football in the ATL area and played HS football in Alabama. 3 years from now everyone will be more than happy the job fell to him, TEE MARTIN!!

Cut just wants to teach. He deserves this. Away from all the nonsense.

At this point, sadly, that might be our best option. Just get ready for him to bolt again after his first season of exceeding expectations. That’s who he is

Bolt to where? Really doubt there are going to be a ton of big time programs that would have him. UT isn’t the only one aware of his past “issues”. He would stay here and do great

We call ourselves a TOP TIER PROGRAM and Cut won't even take the job. It's shows how far we've fallen. So desperate, that many clowns and buffoons are clamoring for Kiffin to come back. The same who left a week or two before signing day.
