Kevin Steele. Great DC, no HC experience but a Tennessee guy. It’s time to get outside the box. I’d rather have him than some MAC type HC.
steele was HC @ Baylor with a career record of 9-36..... I guess technically that may qualify for no head coaching experience

When Kiffin left, it my wish for him to burn in hell for all eternity when he died. I've come back around, however. I've purchased a ticket for the Lane Train and I'm presently waiting on the platform to board.

Pretty much; there's no way Miles and Sumlin wouldn't be better pretty much all the names thrown out.

I can't believe we're seriously considering Tee Martin; I mean love Tee but he's not ready for this crap show.

Miles has already contacted UT and stated he had interest in the job and was content as being a back up.

You missed the point entirely.

Sarcasm is your friend in times like these. There is a reason Tee is being considered. The homerun hire has taken a bit of a backseat to a man who can calm this fan base down. We will see.

But these people who would take Kiffin over Tee Martin need to re-evaluate their lives.

according to the internet, Cut's salary at Duke is 1.7 million. You expect me to believe that he would turn down 7 million per year to come back? I dont believe it. Why not pay some money and get a quality coach instead of this awkward, penny-pinching approach that has sunk our ship so many times before? The UT FB program is on the edge of an abyss - one more stupid mistake ( as in hiring a coach that Sarah Huckabee slams on facebook) may be sufficient to cripple it for DECADES. We have money, tradition, facilities and a rabid ( in all senses of the word) fanbase- why is this an impossible task?

Problem is, Currie is not offering anywhere near $7 million. He is trying to get by on the cheap, thus his attempted hire of his buddy - Greg Schiano. Currie never reached out to Mullen or anyone else - his only target was Schiano.

Seriously call Lane at this point. He's a much better option than the names being thrown around now.

I don't believe for a second Martin will calm the fanbase down. Being the VFL coming home to coach will only last so long, and if by the end of his second year he's still in the 6-6 range, fans will get restless.

We've already been waiting a decade, and I don't think anyone is patient enough for a project like Tee. I'd at least want someone who's been a HC.

1. They did not offer him anywhere near that amount of money lol. They absolutely will not pay anyone, it's like some rule there.

2. This is a blessing in disguise, there's many better candidates than Cutcliffe, it's just a question of whether our AD will contact them and show them respectable money.

Florida gave Mullen $36 million over 6 years = $6 million per year. Currie is trying to go cheap by getting a mid-major coach or a coordinator for around $4.5 million annually. Therein lies the problem. We will not get a high quality coach capable of cleaning up the burnt-out dumpster of a program we have until the UTAD is willing to open the vault like Florida did and spend at least between $5.5million to $6.2 million to hire a good, upper level coach.Until then, we will have to put up with the Butch Jones', Derek Dooleys', and Greg Schiano's the UT athletic directors and Haslam dump on our once proud program. Currie is a pompous schmuck who needs to be fired for the mess he has created.
