David Cutcliffe says no to Tennessee (from Chris Low)

according to the internet, Cut's salary at Duke is 1.7 million. You expect me to believe that he would turn down 7 million per year to come back? I dont believe it. Why not pay some money and get a quality coach instead of this awkward, penny-pinching approach that has sunk our ship so many times before? The UT FB program is on the edge of an abyss - one more stupid mistake ( as in hiring a coach that Sarah Huckabee slams on facebook) may be sufficient to cripple it for DECADES. We have money, tradition, facilities and a rabid ( in all senses of the word) fanbase- why is this an impossible task?

Hire Lane.

We are literally getting backed in a corner.

AD might as well accept that there are only 2 people who might accept this job right now - Kiffin and Petrino. Call both and hire the first one to say yes...and hope one says yes.

1. They did not offer him anywhere near that amount of money lol. They absolutely will not pay anyone, it's like some rule there.

2. This is a blessing in disguise, there's many better candidates than Cutcliffe, it's just a question of whether our AD will contact them and show them respectable money.

Nope, I legitimately think he’s ready. Fantastic recruiter calling plays at a big time school. Get him a good D coordinator, and realize this gig is going to take more than ‘a couple of years from now’ to turn around.

And I think he's not. There's a reason Georgia Southern was the other school looking to hire him.

If his name wasn't Tee Martin, nobody would want to hire him.

We can bring Tee back home.

I'd take Kiffin back but Currie will not hire him.

Just wondering why there have been zero leaks about the coaching search and now we get this. Is it because Currie didn’t actually reach out to anyone previously? Just trying to figure it out.

Bingo.

The plan all along was Schiano. Period, final, end of story.

That should tell any of the few remaining Vol fans that want to give Currie and the Haslam's the benefit of the doubt where they stand with this program.

Also tells you all the supposed "insiders" had no freakin' clue about what they were talking about.

Figured he wouldnt come here.

Time to focus on Brohm, Tee, Norvel, Mack Brown, Strong, Sumlin or God forbid Lane Kiffin.

Currie has really put us in a hole.

Would put Miles ahead of everyone of those names. Would go Miles, Brohm, Sumlin and Norvell. No to Brown, Tee and Strong.

give me 80 million and ill hire the best staff in america. 260 million left for the neyland facelift too

Strip out the corruption and payoffs and that renovation could probably be done for $150m. That should get Gruden in here with the leftover. ☺️

Pretty much; there's no way Miles and Sumlin wouldn't be better pretty much all the names thrown out.

I can't believe we're seriously considering Tee Martin; I mean love Tee but he's not ready for this crap show.
