Yea if there's anything we've learned these past 6 or 7 years, it's that continuity sucks. I'm not surprised a lot of you still want Hart gone. But tough ****, he's done a fantastic job whether you like it or not.

Should Hart be cheered or jeered?


Unlike football, I'll reserve my judgement and delay showing my ignorance until I see more facts.

Plus, I don't really care.

But should I?

Vols had 2 football coaches in 33 years - Majors and Fulmer. I think some of the crowd actually enjoys changing coaches every 24 to 36 months. Hart has rebuilt from Hamilton's debacle and will support Butch Jones to the fullest. 80 percent of Vol fans appreciate his leadership and the stability now with the program which was a runaway train with no brakes prior to his hiring.

English is hard. Wanting him gone and not caring if he leaves aren't the same thing.

Hart has overseen the continuity of three basketball coaches in the last three years.

Our reserves aren't low any more. Hart said the reserves were low when he started, but not recently. Hart is doing a fine job.

Right after hiring a dumpster fire for mens basketball? Great criteria. I'm sure it was so hard for him to close the deal on Bristol, too.

What I'm seeing is a man who has not significantly improved the health of any of the athletic programs by his own actions in the time that he's been here. He's been very fortunate that Butch Jones has started recruiting well(along with the East in much worse shape than when he found it), and after the Tyndall disaster, I don't think Dave Hart was the only guy involved with the Barnes hire. It's not like he's gone out and done a great job, and he's handing out money to Jones for the most minuscule of achievements and endangering us financially if Butch doesn't work out or trapping us in a long term contract with a guy who still hasn't proven he can even win and East title. And he still should have left Dooley on the tarmac in Lexington in 2011.

And the financial health of the AD hinges on 3 sports, and womens basketball is the only one winning championships under Hart's watch and to be honest, with the resources that Tennessee spends on womens basketball, they are underachieving, especially in conference.

I don't understand the hatred for dave hart and never will. He has made damn good hires all around. Maybe the exception of Tyndall. He is about to have to hire a new baseball coach after this season so we will see how that goes. But hiring barnes and butch jones have proven to be very good hires. Yes he is an alabama alum but who cares. As long as we win games and make money thats all that matters. He is a heck of a lot better AD than mike hamilton could ever think about being.

Maybe the exception of Tyndall? He had Ben Howland practically begging for the job, decided not to hire him because of percieved NCAA issues, and then goes out and hires a guy WITH ACTUAL NCAA ISSUES THAT FORCED HIS RETIREMENT AFTER A YEAR. That's not, "Oh, maybe he could have made a better hire." that's pretty much malpractice. And so are these extensions.

Well what if we fire him and the extensions were for good cause? Butch has improved this program a whole whole lot. Also we were very broke at the time of tyndall's hire, most likely we couldn't afford Howland, ever thought of that? We lost a lot of money on fulmer and dooley and it takes a while to repay that. Right now were actually seeing positive income for a change. Might as well give the guy that's bringing in the money a raise and extension right. Thats how business works. You dont want to take the risk and not extend his contract and him go elsewhere and we get a bust of a coach and start losing even more money. Football is actually exciting to watch again, we actually compete. Why not give him an extension. From a business perspective it seems like a great investment.

Nothing listed there that anyone with a brain couldn't have done. ESPN made our Athletic department profitable again with our $31.2m share of their $436.8m SEC distribution. ESPN owns us and every other power 5 school.

Actually the Nike deal is a $$$ LOSS for UT.

Read the fine print folks.

Nike pays LESS $$$ to UT than Adidas did.

Nike also pays LESS $$$ for our own UT uniforms than Adidas did.

The only way the Nike deal could become a better deal for UT is IF it helps recruit better players for all sports and IF our fans buys lots more UT stuff from Nike.

It's a maybe for me if AD Hart should stay but I think it should be a year to year deal until we see much more positive results.

Cheek is another subject.

Just my useless opinion.

He has made three major hires. One was a disaster and two are, at best, unproven. He's about to give one coach a big raise and extension for no reason other than to make it more costly to fire him. I don't appreciate Hart. He'll be the AD this coming New Year's Day. I hope he's not the AD the following New Year's Day.

Right, hang it on the predecessor. Fact is without the switch to SEC network the athletic department of the most profitable SEC school would be bankrupt. Now the additional funds being received will be needed to cover the loss coming from the 2 basketball programs and baseball no longer breaking even. Bang we are right back in the red again. Basketball has been very profitable prior to the AD turning it into a dumpster fire but lets blame it all on Hamilton.

Most universities compile with the EEOC Laws. When you do that, discrimination lawsuits get tossed out of the legal system for lack of merit. Or if it is borderline, and makes it to court, the university wins the case. With Mr. Hart in charge, UTK paid a settlement.


But, we could do much worse at AD. Overall, Dave is turning a nice profit, so I am all for that.

nice job by Dave today...Butch needed a bump but he showed that 8 wins should be the minimum going forward

I'd still love to see Phil is that spot some day. I'm OK with Hart. I don't think he has done a great job, but he hasn't done a bad job either.
