So here's an idea..instead of name calling list some reasons why you don't like him

I'll start you off

1) Tyndall
2) Lady Vols name
I will add this: "They can't handle the truth"! Good observation, JC! :hi:

1- Don't most places just have one AD?
2- Yep!
3- So did Cutcliffe

It wasn't what he did....it was how he handled it. Most universities don't end up paying out cash to settle discrimination lawsuits.

Cutcliffe was a much lower level employee.

Hart is fair by me. His contract expires in a few months. It would be a good poll to see if VN wants to sign him to an extension. He might have more support from the silent majority.

3). Tyndall's replacement. Should've hired a younger, hungry coach than one that's close to retirement.

I love how people can seem to blame Butch for all the bad things this season but always fail to mention the good. They also have a great way of twisting facts to fit their agenda.

Dooley would never have put us in a position to have a 4th quarter lead to lose. Butch has shown he can put the team in position to win. While there were times where the play calling was conservative, I can also think of a big handful of times where the players didn't execute the play.

If we're gonna be assigning blame, let's at least also blame our football coach for putting this program back on the right track, And also for giving his all when some other coaches didn't even want to touch the job. I think that says a lot more about the man then wins or losses, probably part of the reason why the players and staff have bought in so hard.

Think about this... The guy we wanted 2 hires ago bailed on us after 1 season and didn't want to be here. You can't always get what you want, but even when you do it still winds up biting you in the butt sometimes.

I'd rather have a guy with character as our head coach, who also happens to have given us our best season in 8 years... Seems like he's doing a damn fine job all things considered.

I know the bowls are supposed to be equal but the Vols have gone to warm weather bowls the last two years over teams with better records

He has also moved us from Adidas to Nike
Closed the deal for the Battle at Bristol
Made the athletic department profitable again
Hired a hall of fame coach for mens basketball

All in all I think we have the right guy leading the department

You are now a target of the Amazon battalion leading a charge against all things masculine.:mf_surrender:

I have been on the fence with Dave but the Nike deal Texas got made me more than skeptical. Texas 15 year 250 million contract. Tennessee 8 year 35 million? Come on man. Securing funds is his number 1 priority and in his first real opportunity he didn't negotiate real well.

Didn't he almost beat an LSU team who was very good? Could be wrong but a penalty screwed it up. Am I right?

The SEC network is making the athlete department profitable. If the AD had done his job properly there would be a huge reserve right now. The basketball team has no players and is not on anyones list, women basketball continues to falter, men's baseball is struggling to make the SEC tourney let alone the NCAA tourney and football is the only reason this AD is still employed. Thanks!

I honestly believe that some hate him for two reasons.

1. Bama ties.
2. He didn't hire Gruden.

Note: I didn't say these reasons were rational.

All the SEC shares the same in the SECN deal...why then is Tennessee the MOST profitable school?

It's amazing how this post is simultaneously asinine and brilliant.

The Administration hate on this board constantly amazes me.

IF UT is the most profitable school why did they have a reserve of 2 million at the end of last season while Bama had accumulated 50 million? They may be the most profitable but bad moves by the last 2 AD's have crippled them. The fact that they are most profitable actually makes it more embarrassing.

Omg. I was tying so hard to find sarcasm in the post thinking I'd get a good laugh...unfortunately I think op is dead serious. Wow. Hart hired one of the worst sidelines managing coaches we've ever had at ut. Then gave him a raise and extension both of the last 2 seasons when no other program on earth had any interest in him. Not vatech, not Rutgers, not South Carolina. The name Butch jones has become synonymous with being an idiot in the college football world. Announcers multiple times this year made "channeling his inner Butch jones" references. There was also the Tyndall debacle. Wow

Absolutely ridiculous drivel.

You guys wanting to get rid of Hart are insane. He's been 100 times more professional than his predecessor on every front. On his watch, we've gone from quite literally the darkest days of UT football to on the verge of having a playoff contender, in a matter of 3 years, all while chipping away at the financial ruin that Hamilton left us with.

As much as I love Tennessee, we weren't going to regain our prominence on name/history alone - we very well could have become the next Colorado. He's also increasingly kept us from being the front page article on ESPN in the off-season which was commonplace prior to 2012. I know we've all tried to black out how bad the last 5-6 years were, but try to remember how bad it was when Hart took over.

If you guys need to quench your bloodthirst, go for Cheek's head.. there's a much stronger case to be made there, and he is dragging our name through the mud in national headlines..

Pretty simple, really.

Annual profit is a real-time measure of fiscal performance. Reserves (or lack thereof) are a cumulative measure of profit over time, aka retained earnings.

So UT's current state of low reserves combined with profitable operations likely means current management is digging out from a hole their predecessors dug. In that light, current AD/CBJ look pretty good.

Dave Hart and Butch Jones have brought stability from chaos. I hope Dave is given a serious extension and a raise. Vol Football is back in a big way and much of the SEC is in total disruption.

If you guys want to read some funny stuff - check out this thread on an Auburn board. Gus, the AD and everyone including the water boy are getting flogged....

Nothing special about Hart. Easily replaced if he's not happy with his pay package. Signing him to a year year extension at the same rate of pay is fine. If he doesn't like it, he's free to head back to Alabama.

This comes up so often. Why does the fan base hate Hart so much? He seems to be doing a pretty good job at this point in time. I am not in the know so maybe I missed something?

Since when did anyone like the "higher ups". It would be that way no matter who was in office.

Everyone keeps yelling to put Fulmer in as AD, but I would bet in a few years the same ones would be yelling to hang him to.

I don't like what he did to the Lady Vols, but I bet it wasn't just him that made that call. We always like to blame the messenger.
