So since it's their phone they can distribute child pronography if they want? Your argument is weak. I know plenty of people that cannot post on their phones at work. There are companies that prohibit people from going on Facebook and discussing anything about that business. Doesn't matter if it's their phone or not.

Pruitt may or may not be the long-term answer for UT, but can someone educate me on the accomplishments of Mike Leach & why he would win big a UT? IIRC he had one shared big 12 title in all of his years at Texas Tech. He does deserve credit for making Washington State relevant again, but it appears it is the same ole song and dance with him coaching the cougars. His teams typically do not play defense forcing the offense to outscore opponents. That is not a recipe for winning in the SEC. I do not believe he could enter a tougher conference in the SEC beating the likes of UF, UGA, Bama etc. since he has shown he cannot win big in lesser conferences. If Leach landed the UT job, we would most likely be a perennial 6 to 8-win team. Flame away.

Right now its not the same because the rules don't allow it even tho it still goes on in various ways at a lot of places. So the idea that some of the Saban types are ruling with an iron fist and not "caving" to get football players is naive. One luxury he has that most schools don't after that player is signed and on campus, he can let him go and it not hurt his program near as much as another school because they have 2 more right behind him that are trying to get on the field. And they are typically just as talented. In a winner take all industry it makes those decisions a lot easier for a Saban or Smart than it does a Muschamp or Pruitt.

If an 18 year old student can earn money legally and not be an athlete. I don't understand why being an athlete should change that. My business partner has a daughter on academic scholarship at UT right now. Her education is being paid for no different than Brian Maurers'.

The logistics are tricky with finances being different from school to school and Im sure you will still have schools outside the rules even if you allowed them to make $ but that's going on now.

The problem I see is even if you start paying these kids you will still have schools giving them cars on the side. They already are getting a very expensive education on scholarship which couldn't land them millions over a lifetime. But take that out of the equation you're still il dealing with some institutions that would pay them with other items on the side in addition to get paid for playing. I would have a problem with kids taking advantage of the system like that. That would only set them up for failure later in life. They won't care as much about their education. I'm all for free market capitalism but something about this just kind of stinks. I know it won't be on the up-and-up.

You just make weak arguments. I won't use child porn then. Let's say somebody just wants to use efax and fax the Playbook over to another team. So the coach has no right to stop them because they're using their own phone. How's that one?

This falls under the idea of illegally paying for players. Or breaking a law tho.

The speed limit doesn't prevent your car from breaking that number and the law. But it does allow LEO to pull you over and hand you the repercussions of doing that.

Thats happening now if you hold to the letter of the law. And Im not saying you should pay them because schools and coaches are going to anyway.

Right now the only people making real $ are those above the players. And typically the more successful the players are as a group those people make even more $. In reality, the schools, AA' and tv aren't being taken advantage of financially. Its actually quite the opposite.

The education bit is overplayed. Those that want to take advantage of a free education and get a degree will. Those that would rather play the football lottery and party wont. That's reality now. You'll reap whatever you sow. Thats life.

Was twitter a problem when they were 3-0? Or did it become a problem after losing 3 straight?

Leach is an intelligent guy for all his quirks.
It could be as simple as he's trying to shake things up during a 3 game skid and have nothing to do with kids going nuts on twitter.

I don't know if Leach could bring championships in the SEC. The only reason I would prefer him is that he would be able to right the ship and make Tennessee relevant at least. He's had several years of head coaching experience. I think he would be a coach that could recruit fairly well and with his experience at least get Tennessee back to eight or nine wins a year. It's just hard to bring a coach in with no head coaching experience and rebuild a program from ashes like we've tried to have Pruitt do. I think he is in over his head. I hope he proves me wrong. Basically I'm saying Leach could stop the bleeding maybe hold the program up until a better Coach comes along. I do think he's quirky but I kind of like that about him.

So, I purchased season tickets after BYU loss. My thoughts were two-fold:
1. Anti bandwagon commitment. Gotta double down when your team is down.
2. Better Seat Availability:)
