Where is this news outside of this forum?

It was apparently mentioned on volquest. Have not seen it myself though as I do not have a subscription. It has been confirmed by multiple people in the recruiting forum with subs though

Man, the football fan inside is happy; but the academic feels horrible. Did we just make our school an academic laughing stock? Recent polling shows academics as rising in the mind of recruits. Look at UVA, Vandy, USC, Stanford, etc to see their signing classes by using academics as a weapon. Is UTK out of the realm of using the "check out our academics" argument when signing recruits?

I can't tell you the utter bliss I'm experiencing on my birthday. First, my company announces salary and bonus bumps in the name of talent retention, and then I step off a plane and log into VN and see this.......I wish I could turn 41 every freakin day.

Wrong.

1. That "polling" was a BS poll conducted by Rivals. Not exactly a blind sample.

2. 2 out of 14 schools in the SEC (not sure about Mizzou or A&M) are AAU schools.

I don't know the specifics but the NCAA had cleared him, Florida decided not to accept him as a student for whatever reason.

Even in the SEC a nose tackle is a luxury. This is a top-150 player, maybe the 2nd or 3rd best tackle from last years class. This is a HUGE get.

I won't believe this til a credible source reports it and Jimmy Hyams certainly doesn't make the cut in my book. But I hope you are right.

Athlon Sports, Braden Gall just called it. Said 100% signed, sealed, delivered.

1. So you feel good about UTK academics?

2. Got you, the research angle, but we are not one of the two, right? I thought it was only Vandy and Florida in the SEC?

Since you are so concerned with academic standards and the effect this player has on our university. I suggest reading up on this player to better understand why he was declined at Florida. It was up to them to admit him, he had been cleared to attend there but the school declined to accept him.

Academics could always be better. My point was that this kid would have been accepted at 90% of the other SEC schools too. He was cleared by the NCAA and rejected by Florida.

UT is a big school, has great academics, and does wonderful research out in the world. Call me a hypocrite, but no...I don't care what grades those 85 students made on their high school report cards.
