I can tell who the millenials are in here :p Regardless of your opinion on weed, the fact is that all players agree to abstain as a condition to being on the team. They know the rules. Not only that, but it can make you much less reactive and productive on the field. Why risk it? You hurt yourself and your team. I hate it for him, but he made his choices. *Assuming of course this is the reason he was dismissed.

Its really hurt Michael Phelps and Leveon Bell's productivity lol.

Hipaa applies to everyone but the military. Hipaa doesn't cover drug tests as a matter of employment or playing sports. Ergo urine vs blood at hospital.

There was consent forms allowing for the release of information to the university medical staff and athletic administration for ANY medical work performed related to the injury or cause of injury. Including possible substances of influence.

I have no reason to debate this, I'm just telling you what is in the consent forms.

But I definitely agree a simple urine test before any of this, is the most likely cause. For him to be dismissed, there was a background so they had reason to.

This thread is about pissing away an opportunity. I hope he does well but don't make this out to be a pity party for DOB. I don't feel sorry for him in the least. He is going to make his $$. He is just being a poor team mate by not avoiding pot for 7 more weeks.

Exactly. No matter your stance on pot. It is against team rules and illegal. Wait it out!

That couldn't be released. HIppa violation.

Not exactly. HIPPAA is related to prescription drugs. Second if he is scholly, I'm guessing they have access to drug tests after injury. In my line of work, if you get injured the first thing that happens at the hospital is a drug test and we know the results.

Not by a hospital. They have nothing to do with team/ SEC/ NCAA policy. If they test you, it must be for a medical reason (unexplained mental status changes, etc) or at the formal request of law enforcement.

Whew. Thanks for clearing that up. After reading some of the guesses on here, I was afraid the evil conspiracy to destroy the country was further along than I had thought.

Some useless weed/hemp trivia...

According to a study done during WW2. The best place to grow hemp in the US (continental 48 at the time) is Jefferson County Tennessee... Just 30 miles East of Knoxville...

Wooo hoooo..

Dirt's too rocky by far imo.

DOB is not on the same level as Phelps, Bolt , or Bell. But yeah, it actually did hurt Phelps. He spiraled in to a deep depression and almost killed himself. Luckily, he was able to come back better than ever.

Here is the deal. No matter how you feel about it, the kid broke the rules and obviously more than once than this is what happens. He is one of my favorite players on this team and I hate that it has happened especially after this weekend and how hard he has worked but he broke the rules and he has to pay the price. He is about to hit the workforce, hopefully the NFL but if not, you can not continually break the rules and expect nothing to happen. When I was in management I had to let go a very good friend because he continually broke the rules and he was warned plenty of times to stop. I felt he disrespected our friendship and me being his supervisor not to mention the other employees who had to pick up the slack until he replacement was trained. I feel the same way when a player gets kicked off the team.

It hurts to even read that. Dude has been here through the shat and for it to end this way is just a shame.
