The title of this thread is spot on....Right after the game a friend of mine asked me if the Vols had ever had a worse kicker....My reply was, Greg Burke was pretty bad...

If you watch the games tonight pay close attention to the place kickers and see how high those balls go (Not only over the line but how high they go over the crossbar of the goalpost)....Lincoln cost the Vols a huge win today, plain and simple...

Can't agree with you guys on this one. The O-Line has to atleast give him a chance. I'm not gonna hate on the Sullins'. They both passed up free education to come walk on and be a part of tradition at UT. That said, we HAVE to atleast give the kicker an oppurtunity. A 49 yard field goal at Alabama is by no means a give-me. If you're looking to put the blame on someone, go find Fulmer. Thats right...

If was actually worth half of what he was getting payed, we wouldn't be in the unenviable position of starting two walk-ons on the O-Line. Its absolutely inexcusable for Kiffin to take over this team and this O-Line to be without SEC talent. Just my 2 cents.

What I don't get is even if the last one was the o-line's fault, the damn short miss and the first block into Cody's armpit (aka could be blocked by Spud Webb) is all Lincoln. That equals six damn points and should've been game over long before the line failed.

I guess the Sullins brothers are to blame for Lincoln's performance against Auburn, as well.

Agreed, the team played well.Damn well.Even the announcer mentioned Lincolns low kicks even before his first kick tonight.
The O line was out sized and held their own the whole game, I think, except for a few missed blocking assignments.
This one is on Lincoln.

Don't we typically have a different snapper for the FG's? Was that even Cody Sullins in there? If not, then I'm guessing that it's kind of hard to plan for how to block Terrence Cody if you've never faced him.

Regardless - Coach said it in the post game interview - The answer is to recruit.

You've got to atleast give him a chance. Yeah...low trajectory...doesn't mean its not gonna carry. If Kiffin were left with horses on the O-Line, then maybe he gets one of those off. So many what-ifs...

Exactly. It wouldn't have mattered if they had pushed Cody back, the damn ball was so low that he still could have got a hand on it.

So whose fault is it that he was named a freshmen all-american and all SEC kicker by several outlets?

He definately can't make a FG if he isn't given the oppurtunity to get it off. Yeah...he missed a 49 yrd field goal. Thats not a routine FG...thats tough, man.

1 out of 3... should have been manageable no matter what. 35 yard kick-offs, 24-yard max field goals... nonsense. Kicker lost it. That's all. Time for CLK to try the kid.

It's not his fault that The Fired Coach couldn't get a better kicker. When Palardy gets here next year, Lincoln and Cunningham will both ride the pine.

I still believe the protection was awful on the second blocked kick. You can't allow that much penetration up the middle. I believe the first blocked kick was more on Lincoln (and obviously the short 47 yarder at the end of the 1st half).

So you wanted us to kick the ball deep to Arenas or any other returner with a pulse? That was the right call. Cunningham could've gotten a little more distance on those rugby kicks, but you play the roll on those.

What 24 yard field goals are talking about?

What kid are you talking about?

The staff was way ahead of this disaster when they found and recruited Palardy as one of their priorities.

Add Palardy alone to this squad and we're 5-2 with a signature win over the #1 ranked Tide.

Memo to those who feel compelled to defend Liability. err, I mean Lincoln. It is the kickers job to get the ball up. When a kick is on a flat plane, fat piles of crap like "Mt. Cody" become folk hereos.Posted via VolNation Mobile

I don't give a damn if he was named Time magazine's Man Of The Year. He stinks. It's a disgrace he occupies a position guys like Alan Duncan, Fuad Reviez, John Becksvoort, and Jeff Hall have manned.

Palardy is unreal. If he doesn't end his career as one of the best kickers/punters in UT history...I'll be shocked. Heck, he may do both. He's an upgrade...no doubt. I still can't agree with all the hate for Lincoln. We're talking about all the wrong things right now...

I liked Wilhoit, too. At least he had some distance on FG's and kickoffs.

So whose fault is it that we were left an average kicker and an aneimic offensive line?

I just think we're pointing the finger in the wrong direction, thats all.

How did you feel about the overall play of the team today and where do you think we're headed from here on out?
