D'Andre Payne

Guess you don't read too well. 80% of the posts regarding the transfers are labeling them busts, non-contributors, will never see the field, makes room for better players, doesn't hurt depth, we'll be better without them, not worried about losing them etc. Go back and read how many simpletons fail to see this common sense I speak of.

I read just fine! You just pulled that number out of your @$$! If it is 80% then prove it! Your reaching! You must a hard time differentiating between sarcasm and coherent statements!

Are you counting Henderson and Paulk? If so, I don't see how you would count them as "lost returnees". If Butch doesn't succeed we'll be smart enough to realize it...worrying about failure that hasn't happened doesn't sound like much fun...I'll pass.

IDK...we may have to wait until the wizard informs us that the High Council has determined that Butch wasn't successful!

Show him some respect! He spends hundreds of dollars a year on the program! And he has a Go Vols foam finger. :)

I agree with butchna. I don't think they have played enough to warrant the judgement by folks that they can actually play in the SEC at a quality level. I do know that if they leave it usually means they could not take it at this level. Si did an study on this a few years ago.
For players like peterman leaving, I know what he can do and it isn't much. I would rather have a talented unknown frosh than him. Because, he can't be any worse than Peterman.

Agreed! how can you honestly say, for example, Helm has very god talent.....is there a crystal ball out there?

The answer is no!

Saban did run some guys off though he also made good with many of the players left to him by going 12-2 in his 2nd year. The "mass exodus" however wasn't among the guys that he recruited. They were guys left to him that couldn't cut it.

Here's the depth chart from that year: 2008 Commitmets - Alabama Crimson Tide Football

His team was young and a blend of Shula's leftovers, 2nd year players, and Fr.

There will be and must be attrition. You will lose guys to academics. You will lose guys in spite of your best efforts to off the field issues. You will definitely lose non-contributors who don't see future PT as a reward for their dedication. And Jones does demand a high level of dedication. He expects them to "live" football. His demands are definitely higher than Richt's and many other successful coaches.

But you still cannot afford to lose 5 of the 7 DE's you sign over a two year period. I'm not harping on the past here either except as a spark for some "change". I have not condemned Jones on this... only said that they have to figure out what went wrong and not allow it to continue. We as fans cannot effect change but can enjoy watching how the staff responds.... hopefully.

FWIW, you'll note that UT's two deep next fall will be pretty similar overall to the experience and talent distribution of Saban's 2nd team at Bama. Most of the talent will be 1st or 2nd year players rounded out by inherited players.

I also said that Shula recruited way better than dookey. Which is why a bama turnaround was a quicker process. They had better talent than jones when he took over. Shula recruited a lot of average sec players. Dooley recruited average big 10 players.

That 30 year old rich, genius guy claimed that Dooley recruited better than Shula.

I have a couple questions for SJT and Bowling Green. Would you guys be happy keeping all 32 kids and then in a couple years we have a giant whole again?

Should we beg kids to stay - maybe tell Barnett, Hurd and Wolf to sit on the bench more to keep the ones behind them happy? (Might not win as much but we will have depth and nobody gets their feelings hurt to include the Negavols)

I would see a problem if the playmakers were leaving but this is not the case. I can see why some of these guys left because they know they will not be playing much and at other schools they would be a starter or maybe a star. Some of the guys who left are not from TN so with them not playing it probably makes it harder for them to stay when they only came to TN to play football. Be thankful the Vols are getting so much talent and will be winning again.

If player A plays 10 snaps and player B plays 40 snaps the next year, how much more experience does player A have?...remember to show your work. :geek:

It's about the practice reps, terminology in the scheme, the meeting room and S&C room. I know you know there's more to it than purely game snaps. But I'll await your counterpoint anyway.

By that reasoning no OFFENSIVE LINEMAN is ever flexible...because ONE didn't fare that well? They're all identical, you know. And of course the same rule applies to defensive linemen...gotcha!

Coleman fared well too didn't he? It seems that every OL that played out of position excelled. But of course the defensive guys will because it fits your argument. Or maybe because we have mediocre OL coach, but that's neither here nor there.

Silly kid...lol!

Seriously though....yet the above paragraph is so hard to understand for some people!

Good Post!

Don't waste your time! I am so thankful we are pulling in the talent that we are! We are on our way back!

Go ahead and slap those practice and meeting stats on the table...we'll see if the incoming players can possibly match them. Might be hard to match Hendrix and Scott in the weight room since they were EE...wait...they weren't huh? You mean some of these guys have to come in and lift weights in the Summer and then go on the field and generate 2 tackles and 0 touchdowns?... Impossible if you ask me.

Yes, because more reps, grasping of scheme and improved strength, speed and stamina has never led to improvement from one season to the next. I've finally grasped the magnitude of how futile it is deabting you. You have a stance that it's all sunshine, rainbows and chocolate rivers and my stance is its wildfires and floods with the apocalypse on the horizon. Neither one are changing the others mind.
