Why? He kicks our ass every year.He doesn’t, yet. If he did, he’d already be gone.
I do think there was some friction between Mullen and some in the UF Administration, most notably the President, because they found it extremely embarrassing and politically incorrect when Mullen went through the whole “pack the stadium” stuff after the aTm game. And I think even in those private discussions, Mullen held his ground. Then, barely a few days later, Mullen and about a third of the team came down with covid. So just an overall strange sequence of events for a period of a couple of weeks. And generally, Mullen was wound really tight this entire year, as were a lot of coaches.
But, I don’t think it’s quite at a point where Mullen would walk. And even if it was, his departure path will be to the NFL, not to another College job, and certainly not to an SEC East rival. By the way, I expect Mullen to try the NFL at some point. Only question is when. I’m hoping UF gets another 5-6 years out of him.
I thought you had to be a nut job liberal wacko to be considered for a university president job.I think his beef is more with President Fuhcs (spelled incorrectly because the system thinks I’m trying to say the “f” word) than Stricklin. I think Stricklin is more the guy stuck in the middle between the two. Fuhcs is a nut job liberal wacko, you know the type. But agree, there’s smoke there.
Or he could tell them to eat crap and go to almost any other college program. Just saying. It doesn't appear like there is that much interest in Mullen for NFL head coaching jobs. He needs to realize that now. There is a simple answer - fire his defensive coordinator, say that this past season was extremely stressful for him due to Covid and that he is sorry for some of his comments and actions.
I remember being a kid @ one of the 1st games where I was old enough to be tuned in and know what was going on. Probably 1987 , lets say the Cal. game. At the half they introduced ADDD for whatever reason and a substantial amount of people started booing. I asked my grandfather why and he explained the whole Dickey “going home to Florida “ thing. As the years progressed the booing continued right up until the end although not near as many people booing towards the end of his tenure lol.
Dickey played at UF so it was likely his dream job to go back there at coach. Kiffin, who never played at USC and only stayed for one year, is still loved by many. It's weird how people still hold a grudge against Dickey for that.
I wonder if Pitt felt that way toward Johnny?
