Dan Mullen

He doesn’t, yet. If he did, he’d already be gone.

I do think there was some friction between Mullen and some in the UF Administration, most notably the President, because they found it extremely embarrassing and politically incorrect when Mullen went through the whole “pack the stadium” stuff after the aTm game. And I think even in those private discussions, Mullen held his ground. Then, barely a few days later, Mullen and about a third of the team came down with covid. So just an overall strange sequence of events for a period of a couple of weeks. And generally, Mullen was wound really tight this entire year, as were a lot of coaches.

But, I don’t think it’s quite at a point where Mullen would walk. And even if it was, his departure path will be to the NFL, not to another College job, and certainly not to an SEC East rival. By the way, I expect Mullen to try the NFL at some point. Only question is when. I’m hoping UF gets another 5-6 years out of him.
Why? He kicks our ass every year.

florida's getting tired of dan's antics after that 8-4 season with a blowout loss to OU and loss to a bad lsu team at home.

I think his beef is more with President Fuhcs (spelled incorrectly because the system thinks I’m trying to say the “f” word) than Stricklin. I think Stricklin is more the guy stuck in the middle between the two. Fuhcs is a nut job liberal wacko, you know the type. But agree, there’s smoke there.
I thought you had to be a nut job liberal wacko to be considered for a university president job.

He made a stupid remark about covid restrictions, but instead of beings diplomatic and overlooking it, sounds like the university and local sports journalist would rather stone and ostracized him.

It doesn't appear like there is that much interest in Mullen for NFL head coaching jobs. He needs to realize that now. There is a simple answer - fire his defensive coordinator, say that this past season was extremely stressful for him due to Covid and that he is sorry for some of his comments and actions.

Or he could tell them to eat crap and go to almost any other college program. Just saying.

I remember being a kid @ one of the 1st games where I was old enough to be tuned in and know what was going on. Probably 1987 , lets say the Cal. game. At the half they introduced ADDD for whatever reason and a substantial amount of people started booing. I asked my grandfather why and he explained the whole Dickey “going home to Florida “ thing. As the years progressed the booing continued right up until the end although not near as many people booing towards the end of his tenure lol.

This was the reason for the "Archie Who" game. I was a soph that year. We were undefeated, news broke Dickey might go home to FL. We played like dog manure against Ole Miss the next game. The team was flat. Of course the media played up how good Archie was, and he was a great QB, but we were down thinking the coach was quitting the team, which he did after we played FL in the Gator Bowl. We were better than those 2 losses with Kiner and Hacksaw Reynolds.

Dickey played at UF so it was likely his dream job to go back there at coach. Kiffin, who never played at USC and only stayed for one year, is still loved by many. It's weird how people still hold a grudge against Dickey for that.

I wonder if Pitt felt that way toward Johnny?

Yes Doug Dickey did play QB at UF and went to high school at PK Younge that is a lab school for UF. He was a nice enough guy and seemed to be okay as a AD from what I could tell. He was not much of a coach for the Gators and many were unhappy when he was hired as a lot of the fans and the team wanted Gene Ellison to get the job.

As far as Mullen I don't think he goes anywhere this year and would be surprised if he took another college job in the SEC if he left.
