Da Reds thread

doesn't matter. when your a reds fan the only thing to say is there is always next year. the team can beat bad teams and can't beat anybody good. cozart and frazier have come around a bit, but the 22 million dollar man is about as clutch a hitter as Aroid right now.

He's been as "clutch" this year about as much as he has been throughout his career. Basically the only thing he is not doing is hitting doubles like he once did. I think the knee has something to do with that. Hopefully another off season will allow him to get back to completely 100%.

This is incorrect.

Our pitching staff next year will be;

Cueto
Latos
Bailey
Cingrani
Leake

Our lineup will be;

Choo/Hamilton
Phillips
Votto
Ludwick
Bruce
Mesaraco
Fraizer
Cozart
Pitcher

This is pending no offseason signings or trades obviously. We will have Arroyo's big contract off the books or we could resign him and potentially try and package Chapman/Cingrani for an impact bat.

This is still a young team except for Ludwick and to a lesser extent Brandon.

choo will be gone and still have and overpaid 36 yr old batting clean up and a headcase batting 3rd. plus an idiot still running the team. pitching will be great, but cueto will probably never pitch a full season again. i would rather let cueto go and keep arroyo. all in all it will be a down year next year as the pirates and cards will get better in the off season and i really don't see the reds doing much. just my opinion.

the guy is a headcase. he has to be striking out more than last year. every time there is somebody on base he should just go back and sit down.

Notice it says "Choo/Hamilton," however, I think we'll make a run at him because he like's playing in Cincy very much but will obviously be out if someone offers him something ridiculous which if I was a betting man would bet on happening.

Votto, a headcase? If only we had more headcases on our team that could hit .313 and get on base 44% of the time.

And Cueto might next pitch a full season again? Based on what exactly? The only other season in which he did not make 30 starts including this year was 2011 where he made 24. He is one of the hardest workers on the team. Cueto should be the least of your worries.

votto is a headcase, all kinds of blunders in the field and bases. nearly lost his mind couple years ago when his dad died, i don't think he ever recovered. the numbers he is putting up are not worth what he is getting paid sad fact. cueto hasn't pitched hardly at all this season and was on the DL numerous times last season. as long as he stay with the luis tiant windup, he will be on the pine more than he pitches.

Votto was on pace to set an MLB record for doubles in a season before he got hurt in late July last year. So you're just talking nonsense with that "he never recovered nonsense" but you do you bruh...

Cueto still made 24 starts last year and the side problem did not effect him until the playoffs. When he went on the DL during the season it was not because of side problems I do not believe.

Stop whining. It's not a good look for us Reds fans.

Thanks.

i'll stand by what i said. don't think the reds are going to do much in the years to come. still have the same problems they refuse to fix. it all starts with baker.

Just for fun let's compare two $20 mill per year MVP players for the stats guys and Kool-Aid drinkers.

Miguel Cabrera
2011: 111 runs, 103 RBI's, 78 extra base hits, .344 BA, .418 OBP
2013: 95 runs, 130 RBI's, 69 extra base hits, .357 BA, .449 OBP

Joey Votto
2011: 101 runs, 103 RBI's, 72 extra base hits, .309 BA, .416 OBP
2013: 86 runs, 61 RBI's, 49 extra base hits, .311 BA, .474 OBP

I excluded Joey's injury year of 2012. Please note that 2011 was Joey's best year, while Miguel has several years at or better than that year. Miguel has played less games than Joey this season as well. Who is getting the best return on their investment? Now guys, try to explain to the world that there has not been a power decline in Votto's numbers from his best year and that he is worth the money. That ought to be amusing to watch.

Walt and Bob bet on the come that Joey would fully recover and continue building on what he did the season before the injury. Not even close. Maybe he will next season or the season after. But if this is the new normal for Joey, the club is stuck long term without a major, blockbuster trade in the off season. Since they have traded much of their top infield talent in the minors/bench, it will have to be swapping established stars and support guys. It also clearly shows that Joey is now a 2 hole hitter if he was on one of the better teams in MLB.

Comparing Joey Votto to one of the ten greatest RHB of all time is soooooo pointless. Compare anyone to Miggy and they look bad.

Um, they signed/extended him prior to the start of the 2012 season. You know, the 2012 season that started right after the 2011 season in which your comparison starts. What the hell am I missing here?

Cabrera still makes less, probably until this season is over. Still in negotiations as of the last press release in June.
