Da Reds thread

Actually Champy and I both said they were betting the farm on Luddy by staying out of the FA market and that was a big "if". The pitching has saved them during the stretch you mentioned that included winning 5 of 7 from 2 bad teams. But give credit to them for the 3 of 4 against the D-backs no matter how ugly they had to win them.

However, the pen is starting to show signs of wear and tear at a time when only Mat and sometimes, Homer or Bronson, can go deep into a game. Hopefully, the big money star hitters can get their acts together with solid help from everybody else. This is a season where there is no dominant team in MLB.

Sinking all that cash into Tubs was just plain dumb. If they wanted to do that there should have been physical condition stipulations in that contract. Luddy's injury was just a freak deal.

yep, imagine what kind of hitter we could have had for 14 mil a year. jocketty bricked bad on that one. hopefully tony isn't hurt to bad because i still think cueto is done for the season.

Good Article on Latos. 27-8 since coming over from San Diego.

Stud.

What would happen if Mat develop a really good, consistent change to go with the fastballs and slider? Wow. He's not even in his prime yet. Hope they can keep him locked for a good long run.

If he doesn't get religion about his conditioning before next season, I'm for unloading Tubs as soon as they can get some decent value even if they have to eat some of that salary. If they can hold on to Bryan Price and have him the manager in waiting if he isn't already, I would rather see him developing younger guys on the way up than fixing retreads.

i believe i called this. luddy the man who suppose to save the day is batting a scorching .167 he is great.

Since we are talking about the things you called, can we also bring up some of your posts about Todd Frazier :) Has really come up big for you guys lately

So we shall see if anyone besides Cozart can hit in the clutch tonight. Wasted a career night from him yesterday.

And the answer is "yes". The whole line up excluding Choo had 2 hits each with dingers from Heisey, Luddy and Votto. Cozart even got in the act again! Keeping his lead shoulder in and working the count like he should have been doing all season. Let's see if they can close it out right tomorrow.

Lots of champy posts can be bumped about Cozart and Frazier :)

doesn't matter. when your a reds fan the only thing to say is there is always next year. the team can beat bad teams and can't beat anybody good. cozart and frazier have come around a bit, but the 22 million dollar man is about as clutch a hitter as Aroid right now.

Painful when you know the opportunity developed from the ump missing the strike call. But you simply have to be better and overcome that stuff.

I believe Votto is on drugs. He has made some of the dumbest D plays ever this season. How does a guy in that spot in the 7th not know there is only one out?

I doubt I follow as close next season if Dusty is back in the saddle. Too painful. On the Reds website there is an article tonight where he laments having the 29th worst production in MLB out of his 2 hole. To summarize he says he just doesn't have a natural 2 hole hitter. Lying sack of shat. Votto is a perfect 2 hole hitter. Phillips is a natural 2 hole hitter. But Dusty won't let go of his lefty/righty/lefty order BS to fix the problem. Then you have WJ and BC just going along for the ride as long as the fans keep buying the tickets and the hype.

Wasting a lot of Cozart production lately, which is a shame since it doesn't come around often.

He looked bad, but that was gonna be his only play anyways

i agree with all of that. dusty just sucks that is the biggest problem. still thinking jock needs to go to. between dusty and votto's contract figure this year was it for the reds. oh well. sure jock will bring dusty back to finish around .500 next year.

This is incorrect.

Our pitching staff next year will be;

Cueto
Latos
Bailey
Cingrani
Leake

Our lineup will be;

Choo/Hamilton
Phillips
Votto
Ludwick
Bruce
Mesaraco
Fraizer
Cozart
Pitcher

This is pending no offseason signings or trades obviously. We will have Arroyo's big contract off the books or we could resign him and potentially try and package Chapman/Cingrani for an impact bat.

This is still a young team except for Ludwick and to a lesser extent Brandon.

Say you put Brandon in the 2 hole or even Votto then you're working with 5-9 providing basically nothing. There just aren't any other above average MLB hitters after Choo, Phillips, Votto, and Bruce. It is what it is. That is absolutely not on Dusty.

In terms of last night, you're not going to win may games when you give up 8 runs. That also ain't on Dusty.
