Da Reds thread

toothpick blows another one.

Hard to argue that........ runners in scoring position in a 2-1 game with the pitcher due up and two outs AND HE ALLOWS LEAKE TO BAT. Don't get me wrong, that was one of the best performances by Leake in some time, but he should not have batted there.

yep, typical dusty. then leake gets torched in the next inning. dusty is horrible.

Did y'all see what Dusty did with Simon batting in the bottom of the 6th in that first game? He had Simon bat with a 3-2 lead with none out and a guy on first. He called for the bunt, which is fine, except Simon hasn't had a sac bunt since he was in the minors and rarely bats at all. Add to that he took him out as a pitcher at top of the 7th. What an idiot! Had pinch hitters ready to go in a one run game and still had Simon try to bunt even knowing he was going to replace him at the top of the next inning.

Pitchers are athletes to and should absolutely be able to get a damn bunt down. It's absurd to think Dusty should have wasted a PH just to lay down a bunt.

What if the game goes extras and you're therefore down a position player because you wasted them on a sac bunt?

Everyone in the bigs, ESPECIALLY ALL PITCHERS, should be able to lay down a sac bunt with a man on first. Runner on second clouds the situation slightly, but a traditional sac with a guy on first is a necessary skill. Bunting is harder than it looks, but it's most definitely a manageable task. Should never require a pinch hitter to put down a sac, unless you want to pinch hit another pitcher with more bunting experience. No qualm there. Otherwise, you're nitpicking..to the extreme.
