Micah Owings is going to be an ace quality starter for the D'Backs.
ESPN.com - MLB - RecapHamilton struck out and grounded out in his first two at-bats against Owings.
"I was like, 'What in the world is he throwing? I can't hit that,'" Hamilton said.
Watched the game on the dish. Both starting pitchers were outstanding. Belisle looked like a pitcher that could win 12-15 games.
i could see 10-12 but 15 might be a bit much. although if he pitches like he has in his first two starts he might get to 14 or 15.
Why is the Kearns trade dreadful? Regardless of what the Reds got in return, they unloaded two overrated players that they would have had to resign soon. The money they would have spent on Kearns and Lopez is much better spent on other things.Belisle and Bray are our x-factors on the pitching staff this year. Belisle needs to take over the 3rd spot in the rotation. Bray needs to take over the closer role. He may not be a long term solution, but we got him in hopes that he could eventually take it over. Krivsky has done decent work with the team so far, surely the dreadful Kearns trade has to produce SOME dividends.
i halfway agree with this, but if the reds knew exactly what they would get out of the guys they got, no way they make this trade. Why is the Kearns trade dreadful? Hamilton has had 9 at bats and 2 homeruns
Griffey's had 28 AB and has 0
Beginner luck or something special?
Stats of the Starting Pitchers in the minors for the reds

System Totals IP 122.2 H 104 BB 44 SO 90 ERA 2.20 Whip 1.21
Sorry that looks like crap. If you can manage to read it you will reallize how good of stats that all the Starting pitchers have had.
Look at these pitching stats for the teams in the minors. These stats were from this season up until today. Every game is included except todays game for Sarasota which Sarasot won 3-1. so the stats would be even better.
Think of it. If Hamilton does as good as i think he will you can put him in center field for good at the All Star Break. Then you could trade Freel and Hatte for some good relief pitching (good, not what they got in the trade last year). Call up Votto, put him at first. Call up Livingston, put him in the bullpen and Call up Bailey and let him take Miltons spot in the rotation. I think if the season happened like that we could possibly make a run for the division.Milwaukee and St. Louis will both have to underachieve. I think both of those teams are appreciably better than the Reds.
Scott Hatteberg wouldn't fetch a broken bat in a trade, let alone a quality reliever.Think of it. Anytime a team's best case scenario includes the words "call up" three times, I don't like their chances of winning a division.Think of it. The Reds were only in the race last year because the Cardinals tanked in September. Everyone seems to be forgetting Cincinnati finished with a losing record last year, with their top two starting pitchers having career years.
