Da Reds thread

I would wager a substantial amount of money that Rick Sweet would have this team over 500 within two weeks, and that they would stay there

I am of the idea that dusty is our problem. I am not saying that just because he has cost us the last several wins alone. I was a Dusty supporter for the several years that he has been in cincy, but now it is my observation that he is the wrong guy to take this team to the next level. What I would not give to have a Sparky type manager to draw the line in the sand with these pitchers. Sure pitchers need a little room to wiggle out of bad situations for confidence reasons, but Dusty seems to never make a change when it is needed. He is content to watch Cordero struggle and load the bases and give up 3 saves in a row. Come on, what does it take to realize that the guy does not have it out there on the mound. Do something. Masset was ready. He was certainly a better option than letting Cordero throw it away again. As a manager you can't be buddies all the time with the players. You can't play a guy when he is stinking it up just because he makes a bunch of money. He needs to be gone and it needs to come from Castellini. Eat Dusty's contract and move on. We can find a better guy to make the basic of game decisions. I am not a major league manager, but every fan knows when it is time to pull the plug on a guy and Dusty never does until it is all over and far too late.

ive said this since he was hired and nobody wants to believe it. dusty sucks.

A guy named Joey Votto. He's been working in LF some this year but the reports on his defense are anywhere from bad to god awful out there. His bat and approach are legit though.

Yeah that is what I read. Him as a LF'r. I was wondering why he was being blocked. Everyone seems to love him. Just wanted to check.

i just wanted to believe that he could get it done, but he has shown the last few years that he is only able to manage veteran stacked clubs. i was just hoping he could be an effective manager, but he just does not have it anymore. sure this team has had it's share of injuries and just bad luck, but dusty has cost us far more than if there was someone else who had more of a gut in terms of making crucial decisions when they needed to be made. i just hope that castellini and walt realize that dusty is not the answer. my impression is that walt backs dusty all the way, so castellini will need to make the call.

who do you all feel is on the trade block? i still feel ramon is in the discussion more than anyone else. i like him and value him more than hannigan, but he seems to be more of the guy that i could see this club trading. hannigan is nothing more than a back up guy an i don't feel he will ever be anything more, but do they take a chance and bring up mesoraco this soon? do they think he is ready? he can't be any worse than hannigan on a daily basis. thoughts?

Alonso, Francisco, Grandal, Volquez and Hernandez are probably all on the block.
