Da Reds thread

Now that the dodgers have a somewhat comfortable lead and the bottom of the Reds lineup is hitting, the umpire stops giving Billingsley help

I am real close to shunning baseball until the Reds at least make an attempt to fix what is wrong with the team

going into the season most people thought the pitching staff would be solid. the biggest concern was who would be in the starting rotation. now they can't keep the opposing team under 5 runs and have dealt with injuries all season. not real sure how you "fix" that. or are you referring to something else? they could use a legitimate ace though.

why do you say Kemp is a future Red? you're right, he's been ridiculous this series. I'd love to see him in a Reds uni :good!:

Dodgers will have a fire sale, we have stuff they need and we need a LF. As for pitching, we really just need one guy that can eat innings without getting crushed. That is assuming that Volquez can be at least serviceable. arroyo will be fine, Cueto will be fine and I think Leake will be fine.

There have also been some rumblings about the Reds making a run at Kemp, and this isn't the first time. at this point, it seems obvious that Walt wants him and this is finally the year to get him. That said, we will probably end up with a really old former Cardinals outfielder

Pick 1/27: Reds Select Robert Stephenson

Stephenson and Joe Ross were the top prospects in Northern California's high school class, and the BA list had Stephenson ahead of Ross, but at this point it comes down to personal preference.

Stephenson, a Washington commitment, touched 97 mph with his fastball this spring and had more consistent velocity on his heater than Ross, sitting 93-95 at times. He's also got a power curveball, and his package was good enough for the Reds to pop despite their recent preference for college picks. Stephenson is the first prep pitcher the Reds have drafted in the first round since Homer Bailey in 2004.

Cozart and Mesoraco are killing the ball in AAA. It's times to make some moves and get them up here. Alonso is hitting as well although I still have doubts that they will give him a serious shot in LF.

Cairo with the grand slam! Just shy of an upper deck shot. That should ice this one. 8-1 Reds in the bottom of the 7th. Thanks for playing Cubs.

I'm only hoping we dump Soriano or some high price player and make a run at Pujols next year.

Also, I hate the Cardinals, so hope the Reds win the division.

He absolutely cannot be worse than Homes in the field

Watching Chapman work rehab against the Lookouts. He's on a strict 25 pitch limit. Right now hes given up 2 hits, 2ER, 1BB. He has recorded no outs in the inning yet.

He looks uncomfortable. Visit to the mound is happening now.

2 out he picked a guy off of 1st and got a ground ball out.
He has hit 101 twice. Throwing a lot of sliders and changeups.

Kyle Russell hits a solo HR off of Chapman. Aroldis exits the game.

25 pitches/ .2 IP/ 3H/ 3ER/ 1BB/ 0K/ 1WP. He took the loss.

I love your game thread-esque updates, ty sir

I imagine if you get Pujols he'll be plagued by injuries and never live up to the massive contract you'll give him. that's just how the Cubs roll. :p

I love Gomes, but an upgrade would be nice.
