Da Reds thread

* Chase Burns had an MRI after feeling discomfort after throwing in Pittsburgh. Got the arm worked on on Tuesday and was really stiff Wednesday. "So rather than mess around with it, we went and got him the MRI. And for a while there, we were kind of pretty nervous, but from listening to (Dr. Tim) Kremchek and (Dr. Andrew) Razzano, they say you're going to be fine." Best case is that Burns spends minimal time on 15-day IL and returns available to pitch in September.

Last night was the perfect example of being owned by the Brew Crew.

You should never lose a game you are leading 8-1. It happens, but it shouldn't. It points out pitching deficiencies in the roster. They are not able to hold consistently.

Learning how to win tight games is exasperating to watch at times. The end of that game was why they don't make the playoffs - if they don't. It has happened too many times this season. Three errors and walking batters at critical times in a game is the recipe for L's.

Tried to give it away again. At least they stopped the Brewers win streak and still have not been swept in a series this season.

They need to fix the pen issues to have a chance at the playoffs.

This weekend left me the most pissed off I've EVER been a Reds fan honestly.

* We had a legit chance to SWEEP the best team in baseball and a team that has OWNED us and we escaped with not being swept. Pathetic, especially Friday's game!
* WTF Elly? Dude continues to take fastballs right down the middle. He has showed no power and is honestly no longer a real threat on the bases because he hardly runs. Now you wanna talk defense???

* Our bullpen is dead because Tito has constantly over used them this season. Let's be honest, Pagan is NOT a closer.
* Can we PLEASE give Elly a couple days off? He's either working thru a injury or this is the best version of Elly there is going to be.......
* DFA Fraley?? Uggggh

Could not agree more.

Captain Hook Version 2.0 is a bit bizarre the way he pulls the starters seemingly early, but leaves the relievers in to completely tank a game. As a result the pen is worn out. And yes - Pagan is not and never will be a closer. He's a "hold" guy.

I've watched Burns a lot over the past 4 years. Two killer pitches - slider and 4 seamer. Still. That's a reliever. He needs two more dependable options or give in to the pen. He is having physical issues already from overthrowing the two he has.

Elly badly needs some time off. All of them are taking the first pitch or two down the middle in almost every AB.

Bad habits from the players to the coaches. Stop acting cool and "family" this and that. Was Fraley treated like family? Go to work like professionals, focused and productive. This team has pizzed away so any games being undisciplined. The first two games and almost the third were perfect examples of it. They should have swept them and they walk away with one they salvaged.

Elly scoring from first twice on Andujar hits was so much fun to watch. Both times - great timing by the coaches to have him running on the pitch no matter whether they were straight steals or hit/runs. Andujar played decent at 1B in his 4th game playing it as well, which is good to see. Hats off to Krall for making that deal.

But they own the Angels just like the Brewers own us. The net results of this road trip will give a better indication of where we are headed down the stretch.
