Da Reds thread

so far haven't seen it. the guys on baseball tonight were stating the same thing we have been saying. one said votto is a good ball player but it's a lot of money to be paid for basically a lead off hitter. I agree.

They are just baiting you Champy. They have bought into the stats game - not baseball. It takes a real player to understand that statement. None of them have ever had anything on the line on the diamond. The fact that ex-MLB players and coaches state the same things we do means nothing to them. They are after e-cred and messing with people.

Reds fans are mad about the team's performance today. Why? They are playing a superior team and organization that had an off day themselves. I can name 15-20 guys I would take over Votto and the list most certainly includes Freeman. Even if Votto returned to MVP form for a season, it would be just that - a season. He has mental issues. He is about Joey first and team second. They will not win a WS with that attitude from their supposed best player and highest paid. Just like when Junior returned. Everybody got all hyped and happy that the WS was coming. Junior would not sell out to the team's best interests. But it was too late. His contract strapped the ability to attract top talent and pay the ones that were on the rise. Same deal.

Hi idk if I'm in the right line but I'm here for my e cred who would I speak with about that?

*plops resume onto reds thread desk*
*farts*

I know when I need my e-cred validated, I come to a place for Vol athletics and talk about Joey Votto's alleged unclutchability.

That is really Votto's problem. How dare that egotistical bastard try and get on base as much as he can. Terrible leadership IMO.

well maybe we can move him before the trading dead line. with his contract though the redsox and Yankees maybe the only 2 teams that would be interested. his numbers may cause that to not happen anyway if he doesn't produce.

I'm a reds fan and I honestly don't understand the mental argument with votto. His dad died and he had some panic attacks. Could happen to anyone. In 2010 he played 150 games. In 2011 he played 161 games. Had a knee injury that cut short the next season. Last year he played in 162 games. He's focused at the plate and had a down year in terms of errors last year, but he isn't a basket case. There are other things to complain about. He can only do so much.

@HighHeatStats: Joey Votto signed 10-year $225MM contract 2 years ago today.

Most WAR, NL, since 2010:

Votto 25.5
McCutchen 24.5
Braun 22.3
Molina 18.9

I would like to applaud you, sir.

Team Leaders:

Games played: J. Votto (4)
AVG: J. Votto (.400)
OBP: J. Votto (.500)
Hits: J. Votto (6)
2Bs: J. Votto (2, literally the only 2 doubles hit by the team this season)

J. Bruce and T. Frazier are tied for the team lead in HRs (2)

Maybe now that the minor league season has started they'll let Hamilton get in there and mix it up!

what does that equate to. 1-3 start. still hitting for crap in the clutch but that doesn't matter.

the problem is bluto his rbi's and hr's are down. he isn't worth 22.5 mil a year that is crazy. it basically will kill the reds for the next ten years. the pirates will win a ring before us. his numbers equate to a lead off hitter. that is a damn expensive lead off hitter.

Hamilton has "mixed it up" to the tune of 0-12
