Da Reds thread

Votto spreading some bucks around. The official homie scorer has already changed his error to a hit. A two bounce hard grounder to his glove hand that he was too afraid to get in front of like some T-baller. The scorer has been his best friend all season or he would have made 20+ errors. Pathetic.

I agree. The Cards and us are the teams with momentum. The Pirates are wearing down. They have sustained longer than I expected they would. So my hats off to them for their improvement.

But as usual it probably comes down to the Cards and us. Whoever can stay hot the longest will take it.

Just win. No more silly experimentation and Dusty brain fades like having Soto come in as a pinch hitter, especially in clutch situations with Luddy on the bench. Soto may be something someday, but now is not that day when he strikes out on 80% of his opportunities.

With the exception of Locke whom part of it is wearing down and part of it is that he wasn't that good to begin with I disagree with the bolded. Yeah we had a rough weekend in St. Louis, but had taken 2 out of 3 from them and had just taken 2 of 3 from the Brewers. Marte coming back will be huge for this team and it is looking like Wandy will be back soon to go along with Grilli working his way back. After this series with Texas we start a 12 game home stand and with how much better this team is at home I'd be surprised if we faded away.

And on cue, Cole goes toe to toe with Yu Darvish and comes away with the win. With Liriano and Burnett going the next 2 days a team that is "wearing down" should leave Texas with a series victory before 4 a piece between the cubs and padres at home

The bolded might not be the right way to describe it but you guys are 17-19 since August 1.

30-31 since July 1.

Just going by Pirate history of past years and their record over the last month as previously stated by VOL. Not trying to start anything. Just remember every playoff quality team has stories to tell about who is coming back off injury and how everything is going to change for the better. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. The way we are playing the Cubs the last couple of days we may finish last.

Dusty, why do you even bother leaving the dugout to "argue" a call? We know all you are going to do is shake your head and be too chicken **** to get thrown out to show your team you actually care.

Leake is unreal at times. He throws like 120 pitches getting through the 6th inning, yet has a shut out. Who else does that? Notice who knocked in all the runs? #6 batter down in the order knocked them all in. It's like the big bucks guys say they are tired or not interested so they are taking a few days off. Been going on all year. Counting Corky's RBI from the night before all of the RBI's came from the bottom of the order for the entire series.

Maddening.

Looks like we are the ones wearing down. Or just going through the motions until the play-in game if we don't tank it all by then.

Situation: a playoff team, up 5-2 in the 8th against a team out of the playoffs. Trying to get a run going to win the division so they will not have to play a play-in game.

Result: Give up 3 runs on only one, questionable hit that the RF drops. Lose game not using your top reliever. Lose 2 of 3 to said non-playoff team.

Solution: Fire the manager since this is how it has gone with him for 20 years.

Unfortunately, it does not appear that dusty will be removed from his position anytime soon. It wouldn't surprise me if they gave him another extension. Makes me want to projectile vomit just thinking about it.
