The point of a title is that it explains what the thread is about. Hope that helps.

I agree, but that's not the reason.

There have been plenty of threads with utterly unhelpful titles like, "Is anybody else miffed..." and "Noticed something" and "first thread". Folks didn't go nuts on the OP in any of those cases for not explaining what the thread is about in the title.

Providing the player's name in the title provides more info about the thread topic than any of those examples. And yet some folks still go nuts.

So no, it's not about this. There's something else going on.

I absolutely understand quite a few folks in VolNation do not like name-only thread titles.

What I don't understand is, why?

A name alone is not troubling...it doesn't mean something bad happened to the player...it doesn't mean something good happened, either. It has no value, positive or negative. It is simply a statement: I'm gonna be talking about this guy, this player.

So why is it troubling for so many? Put differently, why do so many automatically assume the worst...that the thread is going to have bad news?

Is there some VolNation history behind this? Some series of bad-news threads that all had name-only titles?

Just wondering. Would love to hear from the folks who are actually bothered by name-only titles.

I agree, so what! this is a blog, not an English paper, the pretentishness of some people on the Volnation blog is just ridiculous, when did blog sites become formal means of communication?.........you are just being rude....on purpose.....which brings to question your character.

i agree, you're just talking about that specific person.

not sure why the people on here get upset.(i guess it's an idiot mentality) it's some type of odd mentality they've developed being on these board their whole life.

IMO it is super sad when someone simply knowing the basics of their own language is considered "being a grammar Nazi". Proper grammar skills should be expected by a certain age.

I'm sorry I typed "seen" and not "saw". Really don't think it's that big of a deal lol. Some people are never happy.

Correcting someone's blog is like correcting someone as they physically speak, I see it as rude and abrasive to feel you should correct everyone on a "informal" blog site........it points toward weakness in how one judges others in order to hide their own flaws......I often pray that these types of people find balance and realize correcting others is unbecoming as a human..........jmo.

I couldn't agree more. It's awfully petty and only done to bring attention to ones self. I have an MBA and know full well how to professionally/properly speak and write. On an informal message board I don't find it necessary to spell/grammar check everything I post. I was also born and raised in Tennessee and ain't ashamed of my southern twang or use of words or phrases that may or may not even exists. As a matter of fact it landed me my first date with a hot little thing from California that I now call my wife. And to those of you saying you correct people in person, you must hang around a bunch of p$/:&/&. You can say I still drag my knuckles if you want, but if you corrected me in public I would drag them in to your mouth. I know internet bad a$$ blah blah blah. I'm just trying to help you grammar police, you know just like you're trying to help people with their grammar, that you might want to refrain from showing off you mastery of the English language once you get outside your little group cause where some of us are from it might cost you a tooth or three.

Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Lay off posters and their grammar mistakes. We've all made mistakes when typing quickly.

Here are couple of examples from your posts.
