This is something that always boggles my mind. Why is it that vandy is able to recruit great shooters every year, but we haven't been able to land one that can hit from the outside consistently since we had Lofton and Jajuan. Pearl never could in his latter years, and cuonzo never could either. I miss the days of getting chicken sandwiches when we scored over 90.

Good question, seems almost every team we play has one or two guards that can drain it from three. I've heard the excuse "it's our z defense" but you still have to be able to make the shot, I don't care how open you are.

Honestly every good high school division has a +50% 3 pt. shooter. Surely Tennessee can find one with a hint of athletic ability?

Vandy has finished below UT 2 of the last 3 years and have only won one NCAA tourney game in the last 10 years. Meanwhile, UT has been to three sweet 16's and one elite 8. So, just having shooters doesn't necessarily equal good results.

I don't think it is any one thing...I don't think it's all on the coach or all on the players. It seems to start with no offensive threat in the post. Even if you get the ball into them, they don't present any real threat. Certainly nobody has to leave the player they are guarding to help out.

This causes us to have to work extremely hard to get good looks. We don't shoot the three all that well, we aren't driving the ball into the lane, we're not getting to the foul line.

Even though we have two guys in the top 5 in the league in steals we don't seem to get the points we should off of the turnovers.

I don't pretend to be a basketball coach but my strategy for defending us would be, make Richardson miserable and if Hubbs or Punter beat us, so be it.

The one thing we've done well, offensive rebounding, hasn't yielded much because really only Moore and on some occasions Reece know what to do with the ball when they catch it.

It's just a frustrating thing, the best I can tell though, this is not indicative of Tyndall's teams, other than his first year at Morehead. I think some of the noobs can shoot but I don't think the coaches trust them on defense and for good reason. JMO.

Hubbs was a great shooter in High School. Don't really know what happened after he got to UT. :dunno:

You lost me here...Reece's acts lost whenever he has the ball in the paint or someone packs his shot. His only comfort zone appears to be the 3 point line.

I was specifically talking about offensive rebounding, between Reece, Carmichael and Owens, Reece occasionally can put the ball back up after the rebound. I'm in no way saying he's the second coming of Stokes or Maymon, he's not even close to Moore, but compared to what else we have at the moment...I agree he doesn't appear comfortable in the paint.
