He had a barbacue and lied about it and u relate that to drunk driving and dying....now tell me again who is dumb? LMAO
You're going to need to explain yourself on this one because my first inclination is to shut down your account. I really hope I'm reading it wrong.
You all say that he did something that wasn't as bad as what others did. I brought up another circumstance where a person did something that wasn't as bad as others. It's called compare and contrast. Learn it, and maybe you'll understand. The fact is, he did something against the rules and regardless what happened with others, he deserved the punishment. Deal with it.
Yeah, except Thomas passed a polygraph when asked about the accusations, which leads one to believe Pearl made it up because he lost the recruit. Yeah, totally ethical.
I dont agree with what Pearl did back then but Thomas did say all of that stuff whether it was to get rid of Pearl or not. The NCAA investigators found Illinois guilty of major penalties and the investigators have come out and stated that they still believe that Illinois bribed Thomas to come there.
They did find them guilty of things that weren't related to the Pearl/Thomas incident, so therefore Pearl screwed that one up. Belief and proof are two completely different things.
They don't have in hand proof besides the phone conversation that was recorded.....a lot of he said...she said type of stuff but I don't see how that situation has anything to do with who is our basketball coach....my dad builds ramps for elderly for free on the weekends, and did missionary work in Russia renovating a hospital....he is a great man but like Zo I don't want him to be my basketball coach. I care more about what he does on the court. Pearl has never committed a major violation(proven) besides his lie.....every person in America has lied so I'm not going to hold it against him more than the punishment received.
They have that recorded phone call, but if it was recorded without consent from Thomas, Pearl could have gone to jail because it is illegal to record without consent. So therefore, he did not just get in issues with the NCAA, but also the law. Not good.
That this university does not need someone who completely disregards authority leading any of its athletic programs. Simple.
What authourity did he disregard in the Deon Thomas case? Im getting more confused and you seem to be grasping at straws. If u feel like the lie and barbacue is enough then u wont want him back. If like me you think everything he has done is forgiveable sins, then u would gladly welcome him back as our coach.
