Really? Was he not involved in a lot of unethical behavior with Iowa and all that crap just because he lost a recruit? Did he not come here and do what he did? My god, you all are blind.

What he done at Iowa was ethical according to your sanctimonious views.

He had a barbacue and lied about it and u relate that to drunk driving and dying....now tell me again who is dumb? LMAO

You all say that he did something that wasn't as bad as what others did. I brought up another circumstance where a person did something that wasn't as bad as others. It's called compare and contrast. Learn it, and maybe you'll understand. The fact is, he did something against the rules and regardless what happened with others, he deserved the punishment. Deal with it.

You're going to need to explain yourself on this one because my first inclination is to shut down your account. I really hope I'm reading it wrong.

What if poster is black? I don't think he meant it that way anyway. Diversity on our bench right now would mean finding someone that knows wtf is going on to mix with the deer in headlights coaches.

I know what compare and contrast is.....you just dont know how to use it properly.....you might want to learn it before u make yourself sound like an idiot. Martin did things against the rules also.....Deal with that!! I have enough common sense to think both Pearl's and Martin's transgressions are not major grievences and in Pearl's case way over punished.

Yeah, except Thomas passed a polygraph when asked about the accusations, which leads one to believe Pearl made it up because he lost the recruit. Yeah, totally ethical.

I dont agree with what Pearl did back then but Thomas did say all of that stuff whether it was to get rid of Pearl or not. The NCAA investigators found Illinois guilty of major penalties and the investigators have come out and stated that they still believe that Illinois bribed Thomas to come there.

They did find them guilty of things that weren't related to the Pearl/Thomas incident, so therefore Pearl screwed that one up. Belief and proof are two completely different things.

They don't have in hand proof besides the phone conversation that was recorded.....a lot of he said...she said type of stuff but I don't see how that situation has anything to do with who is our basketball coach....my dad builds ramps for elderly for free on the weekends, and did missionary work in Russia renovating a hospital....he is a great man but like Zo I don't want him to be my basketball coach. I care more about what he does on the court. Pearl has never committed a major violation(proven) besides his lie.....every person in America has lied so I'm not going to hold it against him more than the punishment received.

They have that recorded phone call, but if it was recorded without consent from Thomas, Pearl could have gone to jail because it is illegal to record without consent. So therefore, he did not just get in issues with the NCAA, but also the law. Not good.

They tried going the court route and it was dismissed......what does all of this have to do with being our basketball coach?

That is grounds for possible account termination? Have you heard of this poster named Volmaverick?

That this university does not need someone who completely disregards authority leading any of its athletic programs. Simple.

What authourity did he disregard in the Deon Thomas case? Im getting more confused and you seem to be grasping at straws. If u feel like the lie and barbacue is enough then u wont want him back. If like me you think everything he has done is forgiveable sins, then u would gladly welcome him back as our coach.

If he made the mistake by mistake, that's one thing. The fact that he goes to those recruits at his house "This is against the NCAA rules. If you are asked about it, deny it" shows a deliberate disregard to the authority of the NCAA. If he forgot he called a recruit and called him again putting himself over the limit, that's simply a mistake, but it wasn't that innocent. And that's on top of the Thomas situation.

I hope they don't keep him 3 yrs longer than they should have like they did Houston because...you know... That set the BB program back 15 yrs. He will too I'm afraid.
