Culinary, Arts, Thread.

Where is all this crap??? “Rents”, “Rellies”, etc. I’m almost positive there’s a etc. I don’t need anymore reminders that I’m getting older.
I first heard the terms in British fiction. (Murder mysteries and police procedural SS - I’m too lazy to read Literature.) I suppose it jumped the pond. 1625274164348.gif

So is it just British and not kid butcherism of the English language? I guess I need to get out more.
Just slang, AFAIK. Maybe like us using “stoopit” and “drankin’”.

FWIW, I think in the books where I first came across it, it was the younger cops and civilians using it, and the old farts shook their heads. Some things are universal, I guess. 1625275861005.gif

For every new addition to the grey crop on top of my head, I’ve found SMDH applies more and more.

I don’t have grey hair, it is wisdom hair.

And STFU TFG.
And this is EXACTLY why I don’t dye my grey hair, only some of the blah brown. I earned every one of those grey hairs, most of them the hard way!

Is there a place where I can sign up for the “I’m old and proud” and is there a month to celebrate it?
Edit: STFU to anyone that posts the Social Security Department. Yea, I’m looking at you Souce.
Well, we could try for tribal affiliation: American Indian elder - Wikipedia

But otherwise, we seem to live in an age where professional success is often defined as endlessly moving from one corporation to another, destroying institutional knowledge and experience, and stripping it bare in the name of cost-cutting and increased stock returns for the C-Suite, in order to shine up one’s LinkedIn account, adding those action verbs, and moving to the next employer, leaving the wreckage behind. (Source: Hubs’s last decade or so at a Fortune 500 company.)

The general disrespect for older people, who knows? A lot is Hollywood and popular “culture” in general.

OK, Boomer. 🙄
