Seriously. I don't care if they look, smell and seem fine, I won't use them on or after, sometimes if I've got more that's not in question, I'll toss it if its close to date and questionable.
Yeah, lesson learned. The expiration date on cream is so long that it was easy to be tempted into stretching it out a bit. Perhaps more than a bit. 1625449220925.gif

Yeah I understand, same way with eggs, that's why I don't play with them.

Eggs have a float test. If you put them in a glass of water and they sink to the bottom they ok. If they float they bad.
I understand. I also understand that the Chalazae is just protein and a good sign of freshness, but I still pick it out and if it's anywhere near the expiration date I won't use it.

The good news is I don't usually have an issue with eggs because I use them way before the expiration date. But if it gets close, I have no problem throwing away a 41 cent egg and skipping the float test.

I've only had food poisoning one time, I mean real bad food poisoning, and it was from bad eggs from Denny's. That's the last time I've eaten at Denny's and it was maybe 2 years before I ate an egg. Bothered me to have to use them.
