Crowder misses practice due to not starting?

That's an important distinction Bruin isn't making also. Kendrick was unhappy with his role, but kept showing up and working.

Wiesman also benefitted from Jones being hobbled by injuries recently.

I'm surprised that Crowder missed a practice though. Kid has worked his tail off the past few years. Never seemed like the pouting type.

This is the kind of lazy, sensationalizing media crap that CBJ was trying to curb when he announced his new media policy regarding injuries. The media get's 1/2 or 1/4 of a story and runs with it on twitter (in 140 characters or less) to just stirs things up. Me, me me! We are building a team and this coming from a senior on game week is inexcusable. You don't see Shy and Kmac laying down because they aren't starting. They are the future as the quicker they get on the field the better. Maybe Crowder needs an attitude adjustment. Put either one of them at nosegard during practice, he will straighten up or leave. Frankly no loss here but he is no team player.

Absolutely nothing good can come from the public knowing this info. Jimmy has clearly had good sources lately but that would end immediately if I was jones.

If it was anybody else I would agree with you, but I don't think that is the case here.

Jimmy has long been bashed/ridiculed (rightly so most of the time) for posting info that most everybody with a pulse has known (or figured out) for quite some time. He doesn't put something out there that hasn't been backed up by seemingly everyone in the office (not just the 3rd string ball boy's aunt). I don't think he has jumped into the conjecture game after all of these years. I think somebody told him that he could run with this. As a coach, you don't treat all of your players equally. You treat them all fairly in their own way. Perhaps this is an attempt at sending a message. Who knows.....we will never know the whole story of things like this.

The initial report said that he and Wiesman were unhappy and were both given the weekend off to contemplate their future.

Reporters still saw Kendrick at practice over the weekend though, so it seems like he never considered leaving so much as he made his displeasure known.

I can see Jones being impressed with something like that if the players came with a good case for saying "he earned it".

:dunno: Suits me. I'm not much of a Weisman fan. He didn't play well last fall imo. I am a very big Jones fan. He's got a nasty streak that makes a difference and can infect others.

If all this is true then I really feel for Crowder. He's worked his tail off and given a lot to UT. I can completely understand his emotions if he's now been passed.

I really doubt he missed due to the fact he's not starting. I think what Hyams probably meant was that Crowder missed the practice (for some undisclosed reason) and is now upset because he knows he's not going to start due to that missed practice.

Kerbyson is the exception. He has been pretty unselfish learning to play tackle and doing really well at it, all things considered.

Man you are all over the place. Easy said that DEFENSIVE players went to the coaches on Kendricks behalf and asked them about him at RT. Kendrick didn't solicit players to go to coaches for him.

Also, Kendrick didn't "skip" a practice or even miss one for that matter. Weisman was given time off to decide on future based on injuries and if he wanted to play at a lower level for playing time as his dad pointed out.

Very very different situations.

I mean that tweet could also mean that missed practice, while unconnected to that be upset he isn't starting. It is kind of vague, he could have just said, "Crowder skips practice due to not starting" not "Crowder missed practice, upset about not starting". They are not necessarily connected.

Seems to me like the Knoxville reporters aren't sold on Jones yet. Maybe they are still upset that the Athletic Dept burned them so bad with Kiffin (from "everything's fine and we're moving in the right direction" to "well he left in the middle of the night and violated just about every NCAA violation") When Butch starts winning on a consistant basis and beating our 3 big rivals then they won't be questioning his coaching strategies, hiring decisions, player handling, # of injuries, off the field issues, etc.

Not only that, but you see quite a few posters in here placing assumptions on top of that (I'd go less than a quarter of the full truth) story in 140 characters or less.

Bruin is right though. What good does this information do anyone? It's nothing more than menial drama to drive attention to the reporter.
