Did Kiffin recruit Crompton in 2005? USC offered Crompton, and I would think CLK would have had to have some input in that decision...

Could this be part of the reason why CLK seems to be fine with the possibility of not gettin a big time QB this year? Maybe Crompton can be a much improved QB with some good coaching and in a system that might be better suited for him. Hell, I don't know.

Will be interesting to see. Didnt know about USC connection. If he had 2 secs to make a read would make a world of dif. Who ever it is has got to have time to make reads and adjustments. The line play this year was pitiful at least.

I am not convinced that JC is as bad of a QB as he showed this year. He showed signs of being ok. When he would drop back, look off receiver(s)...then run. He looked like he has the ability to make plays.

I hope CLK could possibly work with him and make him better

Well...from what I can remember, Crompton was the #3 QB in the nation at the time.

#1 was Sanchez and #2 was Perriloux (sp?)

Sometimes ratings mean nothing!!

Yep...I think Crompton's got it in him (of course he does), but it's gonna take an incredible, no, THE best coaching job ever to bring it out of him. Stephens has great potential but I think Coleman probably will be the starter come fall. Crompton is like the young rape victim that never got over what happened and it would take a heck of a shrink to repare the damage done. Sorry for the vulgarity.

You might want to work on your choice of examples, but I see what you're saying.

It will be interesting to see what Kiffin does. Does he try to rebuild the shattered confidence of a senior quarterback? or does he put all the time and effort on our young QB's? Either way it will be a big coaching challenge for him.

I don't think he'll put the effort in Crompton since he's out the door next year. It'll probably be Stephens or Coleman, and that way we get one year of solid QB play, and hopefully, a good backup for a year or two whenever we get a stud in here.

I haven't seen Coleman play to be fair. I agree that Crompton while showing flashes of fearlessness running the ball in abscense of an open reciever, and a few scattered good passes will be leaving too soon to be made a project, barring the acquisition of another QB I'd say Tavis Stephens will be your QB. He already fits Kiffin's known preffered style, and all he seems to need are snaps and quality position coaching.

Yeah, it is going to take a heck of a coaching job by the staff to turn Crompton around. He showed last year that he wasn't scared to take a hit for the most part, but his passing was horrible. Of course the offensive line wasn't all that great, but you still have to make some good throws from time to time, which he did, but not often enough. I would say Stephens or Coleman get the start next year....I think our best chances lies with one of them.

I don't see Crompton fitting in very well to CLK's system. The West Coast Offense is all about reads and checkdowns...and we all seen how well JC stares at his first read like his life depends on it...

I would give the nod to Coleman, but CLK might just like Stephens' arm and his ability to stretch the field.

crompton is the best of the bunch. the only times this year we put points on the board was with crompton as our quaterback. the downside was real down also though. but he does give us the best chance to win now. stephens is ok and coleman is a good distance behind both of them. ainge got turned around between his sophomore and junior seasons and it clicked. with proper coaching and an offense on the same page, crompton can get us to a bowl at the least.
