After watching the Coleman videos....I did a search on Crompton....geez he's tough on the run....and can flip the ball a mile. I'm sure most of you have seen these but I really hope his shoulder surgery hasn't affected his rocket launcher of an arm. Take a look if you haven't seen it....

Jonathan Crompton - Football Recruiting

Sorry, I don't know how to link....:cray:

I just said the same thing in the Coleman thread. Crompton has all the skills.. or had.. hopefully has fits better.

Did pretty good in the games last year.

The passes I watched in the video looked more like touch passes than laser type throws.

He isn't afraid that's one good thing i see about crompton. He is firery too. I may just be wishful thinking but he just might be the leader type of qb we have been in need of for awhile. He strikes me as a kid that will speak his mind. Clausen and ainge were quite guys, i guess lead by example or whatever. I like crompton and if he is our starter next year we should be in good hands.

He threw under 50% and we lost both games. That isn't good by my standards. Meachem made him look decent against LSU. I hope he will develop in the offseason.

He was cutting his teeth. His first college start comes against one of the toughest Defenses in the nation. I was impressed. If I recall correctly, Ainge's first big start was against a pretty good Auburn team and he opened the game by calling a time out and threw 4 INTs.

i like that Crompton is mobile "enough" to get us some 3rd and 6 conversions with his legs. I don't think we need a guy like Pat White, but as long as we have a QB with some ability to scramble we're going to be 10x better off on offense.

Yeah, blame him for Russell and LSU driving down for the winning score. It wasn't like Crompton didn't help the team enough to win offensively.

I'm sure Ainge would have faired much better. He always has stellar performances against LSU.

Crompton did OK in that LSU game, but his two big passes were prayers answered by our receivers.

Finally someone of reason. I can't believe all the people on here flaming Crompton for his performance against a stout LSU defense and in his first road start. While I can't remember the particulars of the games going by the stats he performed solidly the only real knock being his completion percentage.

He has shown he's up to the challenge of SEC football yet all half of the message boards can talk about is how Coleman looks in practice. Like Allen Iverson said "we're talking bout practice."

I'm willing to bet that a large number of those calling for Coleman over Crompton are the same one's who thought Crompton should be starting over Ainge before the start of the 06 year. The fickle nature of UT fans could be the most aggravating part of supporting the big orange.

Crompton's play last year didn't have much to do with the LSU defense.

I saw lots of innaccurate passes and bad decisions throwing into coverage. I didn't see good play stopped by a great D. I saw a bad game by a young qb.

His first td pass was a good pass. The second was 100% fluke. Not enough lead and short into double coverage. Meachem made that play entirely on his own.

I think saying it was a bad game by him is going too far.

Crompton was also a redshirt freshman during all of this. To go into the game against LSU with no preperation and to not play scared like he did was impressive. The entire team was bad during the Arky game.

When did I blame him for that? He didn't impress me and he looked worse the next week when we were run over by Arkansas. He will do better I'm sure, but I believe he needs work. And Ainge has absolutely nothing to do with this unless he dressed up as a red herring that day.

he is definately confident, which he will have to be, if we are gonna compete next year. the UAB game will be a good quiz for him, before the tests of UCLA and UF.
