I really think Crompton will be a great UT QB. So will BJ. I'm more excited about these 2 than I have been about anyone since Peyton. Crompton will have the benefit of an experienced line, up and coming receivers and experienced backs.

Crompton was'nt the one having a hard time tackling DMC last year.

And we got robbed in the LSU game last year. he fumbled the ball and the refs gave him the game.

I have not been impressed by Crompton. I hope the coaching staff opens up the competition for the QB spot in the spring. Every time someone talks about Crompton they always talk about how good he looked last year against LSU. I wasn't very impressed. He had 2 prayers answered by our receivers, other than that he was mediocre. The Arkansas game was atrocious.

I have to agree with you on this one. Hopefully he has made some major improvements since last year. Everytime he has been on the field he really has impressed me. But I hope he has gotten better and keeps progressing.

This will be the first year that he gets all of the snaps in the spring and fall.. I hope we will all see what Crompton can do with the full attention of the coaching staff.

I agree. It is like most people are wanting Crompton to fail. I'm for competition, but it sounds like some guys are wanting to hand it to Coleman, no one is talking about Stephens. Has Coleman gained any weight? Last I saw he was a buck 80. He may be all that, but I've got confidence in Crompton and am curious to see how patient you guys are this spring and fall with Cromp.

I know I want him to succeed. He just seems to have a wild streak and needs to be "trained" a bit before he makes too many mistakes and blows his chance. I see potential. That is all I have seen so far. Even in the Spring game. The LAST thing I want to see is another quarterback controversy.

Im with Drew he had 2 prayers answered. Hopefully Phil will let B.J. atleast battle for the spot. What am i thinking this is Phil were talking about Crompton is already penciled in as the starter and theres no eraser on that pencil.

For me, what separates Crompton isnt something of the physical nature. It's a quote on one of his recruiting vids. I think the reporter had asked him about signing with a UT team that already was solid ( :) ) at QB. He said he didnt care if it was Peyton Manning coming back, he was going to UT. He seems to me a very self motivated person who doesnt need all the coddling you see alot of other QBs get. He loves the competitive aspect of the game and he loves the University of Tennessee. He's going to bring a fire into the offense we havent seen since Manning was here. Not like the ever-stoic Clausen brothers or the ho-hum- it's-just the-7th-game-of-the-season Erik Ainge. He's going to start next fall and he's going to bring a little life into the offense.

i hope say. it makes me think about, i believe it was last year when he was sent in to run out the clock, and he starts calling audibles.TIMEOUT!!! that was funny or i was intoxicated. cant remember which.

:rock: It's been a long haul since the excitement of Tee and Peyton. Before PM, Shuler was exciting. I hope that intensity at QB does come back to the Hill.

I grew up on Condredge Holloway, but no one here ever comments on him. He was a 'spread' QB without the formation.

This post is what is wrong w/ some fans. They expect an 18/19 year old who hasn't played in a big time college game to go out there and play like P.M. Give him a break

not necessarily a QB skill, but I'll always smile about Crompton laying out that LSU 'backer.

I hope they find away to utilize all of them...Coleman in the pocket, Crompton for some smashmouth, and Jones for electricity

Crompton also ran over a Cal player in Knoxville and got the crowd into it. I got pumped about him just from that moment

I'm very interested to see what Cut does with Crompton. Cut hasn't really coached a scrambling style QB since Heath Shuler; most of his prodigies are pure passers.

Hey, I'd like someone to bring some fire into the game. I'll never forget all those shots of Ainge sitting on the bench all by himself looking lonely. But what do I know, maybe that is the sign of a truly great QB - he's on some kind of different plane from the rest of the team. But I think I'd rather have a guy that gets in his teammates' faces to fire them up. Leadership comes in many forms.

On another note, this has probably been discussed ad nauseum, but I will be glad to have a more 'physical' QB. I think the offense will function differently when the QB isn't dumping it off after 3 seconds to avoid contact. Yes our O-line got all sorts of praise this year for lack of sacks, but do you think they could do a better job in other areas too if they weren't so darn focused on just protecting 'made-out-of-glass', 'injury-prone' Ainge?

Ok, enough prognosticating. 3 weeks and counting for another helping of UT football.:clapping:

That was LSU's All-American ( :eek:lol: ) safty LaRon Landy. Cromton was looking for some to punk on that play and Landry was his Huckleberry!!! That was awesome.

What made it better is that LaRon Landry was a legit All-American and one of the better tacklers in the nation.
