You can get your mental health treatment while you’re serving your life sentence or until your execution. No criminal should be released due to “mental health.” People are sick of the excuses.

Nah, they look pretty stupefied and just sat there on the video.. they maybe couldn’t have prevented it but they sure could’ve done something in the aftermath.. kind of look like poor excuses for humans to me TBH… BUT I wasn’t there so I can’t say how I would have reacted but I would sincerely hope it would have been better than that

yea last time someone tried to do something, they ended being prosecuted.

Still has a duty to consider threats and danger to the public, and is allowed to (and should) consider the litany of crimes this man committed (including the schizophrenic episode that put him in front of her in the first place); she failed to do that.

For what it's worth, she's heavily involved (or outright owns/runs) a for-profit business that "rehabilitates" criminals, but it seems that it is likely more of an activist front than anything.

Does anyone know if she is still hearing cases? Did they at least tell her to quietly step aside for a while? Seems like she has just disappeared. No reporter has tried to interview her? No one has asked the court for a status update or a copy of her docket?

Well, that’s true, but you aren’t going to get prosecuted for helping someone after the fact.. in any circumstances lol… this may be a judgemental statement, but I don’t think they were going through legal gymnastics in their brains.. it looked more like indifference and DGAF.. but, I don’t know these people.. who the heck knows..but they look either stupid and hard hearted to me or both

Every generation of xenophobes had this same fear.

Balkanization in America means: fragmentation into separate, sometimes competing, groups that do not fully integrate. Instead of unity, it implies division along cultural, ethnic, political, or ideological lines.

Cultural division into many small groups = No, I don't feel that at all. I go to the Mexican restaurant, Indian, Lebanese, Italian, and everybody is cool with each either. My neighors in my circle are white Americans, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Mexicans, and Canadians. There is no hostility. Hostility is from the loud people online and on the news.

Ethnic division into many small groups = I don't feel this at all. The people I talk to the most include whites, Hispanic, Asian, black, and Jewish people. Yeah, they have all their own little culture clubs, but there is no division, and there is no threat or hostility. Why do you feel this? Do you feel this from anybody you know, or are you just falling into the trap of isolating yourself and believing the people who are loud online or in the news? You might talk about black/white hostility right here, but that has to do with slavery and everything that came after. It's not an immigration-related conflict.

I wish young Ms Zarutska had been a little bit more afraid and aware. She would still be among us today. But she was so innocent. She survived Putin but didn’t realize just how dangerous America’s cities have become.

I agree, prosecuting people for helping or trying to stop a violent crime has set a really bad precedent and just makes our society even worse as a whole… everyone just becomes more hateful and indifferent to each other.. criminals bad, people with a conscience good

I know what balkanization means in this context. I respect your take on it but I stand by my observation.
