This reminds me of several years ago when Guns & Roses and Metallica where on tour together , in Cananda i think,
when Metallica vocalist James Hatfield went on stage and was injured by a pyro accident and had to be taken to the hospital.
I seen an interview with Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich that said that Axl Rose and GnR could have came out an saved the day and played a long set. Instead , being the douche that he is , Axl didnt come out and a riot broke out.
I agree bodily harm & death threats are stupid , which isnt representive of the majority of fan base, however just like Axl Rose Kiffin could have handled this situation so much better.
I believe had he handled this like an adult and not a fugitive wanted by the KPD than fans would have been dissapointed but not incited to these extremes. For instance he could have properly told his players , ALL THE STAFF( Including Brother-in-Law), address the media and actually answered questions and explained his move and also acknowdlege fan support, administration and show some graciousness for his time and opportunity given here when his resume was soo lacking.
Then he could have controled his staff from making unethical calls to prospects, those already on campus and those still being recruited, like he said he would.
Instead Lane Kiffin proved to be the douche EVERYONE else said he was. I drank the koolaid , i admit, I really feel like they were good coaches but they are morally bankrupt people.
So Lane can play the victim if he likes and obviously the threats were over-the-top and unexcusable but he could have went on stage and handled it differently, if you know what i mean.
I was at the show in Orlando not long after that incident.... Axl came out during their set and went off on a 15 minute diatribe about Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love (who was pregnant w/ Frances Bean at the time)... He was ranting & ravng about what a bunch of heroin addicts the both of 'em were and if the baby came out (messed) up the law ought to throw both of 'em in jail..... The crowd was boo'ing the dog out of him... "Just shut up & play!".... Sorry for going off topic folks, the other post just brought up a ton of great memories!!! The guy filling in for Hetfield was tremendous.... I think he was the guitarist from Lords of the New Church.....
