He has elite size and better than good speed. He will get stronger, maybe even a little faster. In my opinion he will surprise some people next year. Have to remember, he was a freshman still recovering from ACL injury.

He weighs 205. That's not elite size by any standard. He may be get faster when he gets healthier, but he certainly has not shown "better than good speed" either. I stand by that he's a good prospect, nothing more.

As long as we hold onto Wilcox, Sirmon and Thompson I don't see any staff changes that won't be able to be overcome.

I am on the Heistand firing bandwagon too, but I do agree that he had a really young line again next year and I will not be really upset if he gets one more year to prove himself with a veteran line.

I have to agree for him to be a good SEC back he needs to add bulk and that will not make him faster.

I think the difficulty in getting Porter is his contract with Memphis.

Larry Porter, dismissed Sunday after winning three games in two seasons, will continue to be paid his annual salary of $754,890, minus what he would be paid if he lands another job.

Porter, though, will receive his annual salary in monthly installments through Nov. 29, 2014. And should he land another job, which is expected, the U of M's obligation would be reduced by the amount of that salary.

Paying the price: University of Memphis will pay 3 football coaches next season

He might not want to lose what he already has in the bank and I don't see how we would be able to pay him enough to offset his loss. JMO.

This sucks basically the whole same staff is coming back next season.I guess Dooley really believes he is getting 4 years then,Hell maybe he is. Well guess we can look forward to a 5-7 or 6-6 record next year again sigh...

If Dooley goes 5-7 or even 6-6 I highly doubt he'll get a 4th year. If he can and should pull in another top 10 recruiting class then he'll have the talent and depth/experience to at least get 7-8 wins.

Him being a good coach has nothing to do with how people feel about him personally.

He didnt get along with Martz at chicago either which wasnt good for his career.

You guys realize he wouldn't lose anything, right? If we paid him $100,000, he would still get $660,000+ from Memphis. I think Dooley might be the issue. But, he's going to collect that $770,000 regardless if he takes another job or not.

Whatever job he takes he will be doing it for nothing on his end. With that being said I am sure he can afford to sit back and wait for the very best job possible and we aren't it. If it doesn't happen he still gets his money to go fishing every day.

It's kind of disheartening, but maybe Hiestand got the most out of these young linemen. I am a little skeptical of the "fire the coach" solution, especially when the players are young offensive linemen. I would argue that nowhere is experience a more critical factor than on the OL.

Look at the first-team All-SEC OL: It's made up entirely of fourth and fifth year players.

I understand what you are saying but I don't think thats the way things work in the business world. What you are suggesting is that he basically work for free. I think the only way someone hires him is if they make up what he would lose from Memphis + the going rate for his new salary. The problem as I see it is I don't know how you manage the contract issue without essentially paying half his salary from Memphis plus throwing in his new salary to get him on your staff. Again, JMO.

He doesn't lose anything. You clearly aren't grasping what that means. He makes $770,000 from Memphis. If he gets another job for $200,000, he will make that PLUS $570,000 from Memphis. In other words, the exact same amount. He does not take a hit at all.

Which means he takes only a perfect fit job or waits til next year to see if one opens up. Memphis is hoping he gets a good one quick.
