Couple Things Being Reported...

The line wasn't totally to blame for the running game. Poole was horrid.

Not going to even try to argue the point about Poole. That's not debatable, but the line was equally bad. When Poole wasn't tripping over his own feet at the line of scrimmage, he was getting drilled in the backfield while getting the hand off. That is definitely on the O Line.

If we get a top running back we have to have Graham here as our running backs coach. That is not gonn happen until S.Carolina is done with their Bowl game.

not necessarily. coaches like to get in on recruiting at their new spots

I know Chaney is the OC but why wasn't he over the QB's all along? Isn't that his specialty??? Also did I read somewhere that we had a grad assistant in charge of RB's this past year?

I believe that's correct on the RB's but remember Sirmon was also a GA and he's turned out pretty well

You would want to keep the same system for at least one more year unless Dooley planned on bringing in the simplest of simplest (Air Raid that can be installed in 2 days). System familiarity is much more important in college than the NFL. Although, there is absolutely no excuse if the protection scheme doesn't change (Flare control/Max protect) or Chaney does something to control the outside edge (Hots/Sight-adjustments). The production will be there simply because of the athletes, but the staff has had awful, awful adjustments and call me glass half-empty going into next season. I think Chaney got a bit of the schematic advantage garbage from the league. In theory, keeping the same parts makes sense from Dooley's stand part.

Yea, but I'd be surprised if the reason Dooley has failed at landing a good RB prospect isn't directly tied to not having a running backs coach.

Familiarity with a system that fails isn't a positive, in my opinion.

I mean, couldn't the line struggles be resultant from the fact that we started 1 JR, 3 SOs (4 before Stone was demoted), and 1 FR?

I bet HH looks like a genius in 2012.

he coached QBs back in the 80s for one season when at Fullerton. as coordinator, he has worked with them but not had the position group specifically.

I think HH is a good line coach.

I think Chaney is a giant (literally) failure. Keeping him will be the downfall for Dooley.

Do you have any guesses on who may be offered other jobs?

last year, Chaney, Thompson, Wilcox, Russell and Baggett all turned down offers. I would expect same group to get some contact with all the job openings out there. Hinshaw and Heistand may also get offers. SIrmon tied to Wilcox..

it really is pretty wide open. Lot of footballs taffs to be filled

If Wilcox leaves, Dooley is straight screwed.

These last two seasons have demonstrated the worst OL that I've ever seen at Tennessee. And don't confuse that with talent. Even less talented players can execute what's asked of them properly. But that never happened during the past couple of years.

How Heistand still has a job is just staggering to me.

I wonder what the excuse will be next year. Blame it on RBs again?

From everything I've seen, Chaney scrapped Kiffin scheme and terminology and then asked HH to run what he wanted, which made absolutely no sense considering what Ron Turner and HH did in Chicago was very similar to Kiffin.

Smh at not getting rid of Harry. Keeping him will most likely seal Dooley's fate imo. Hope I'm wrong, but using this season as a measuring stick, we may be even worse in the run game next year.

We don't have very far to fall :cray:

What were we? 117th

I don't see how they won't have to do a major overhaul schematically anyway with the running game. That pretty much tosses out the only real justification for keeping Chaney or Hiestand, imo.

i said this on here last night, and some know it all said "not nearly close to being true ". well , it is true that any good coach is into their bowl prep and will not even talk to us until their bowl game is over. jay graham will be busy until after the new year. i can't stand know-it-alls !!!
