The funny thing about all of this is a lack of aggression on the field is readily apparent with this team. If you want a competitive SEC football team you better want a coach that is willing to get in a slackers face. This is football, it ain't chess.
To be completely honest if we were 5-0 right now and looking good while doing it, then I would probably not be too worked up over an occasional Muschamp type melt down. Would that be my preference - NO. I think a coach performs best when he's thinking about the upcoming play verses going ballistic over the last play.
Yes, its completely possible the player got punched and didn't retaliate. Much more likely however that the player never got punched in the manner being presented in this thread. Maybe CBJ touched Crowder in some manner and a clearly disgruntled Crowder interprets it as being punched in anger? Isn't that just as possible if we're playing the possible game?
Hard to believe a guy with the savy to obtain a $3.6 million dollar job would put it at risk to punch a guy in anger who is also likely to put him in the hospital if he retaliates.

As I replied to OWB, I'm not pushing for or advocating a change. I simply relayed something I'd heard and dismissed, that seems congruent and relevant to the rumor brought forth in this thread. The likelihood of anything coming of this assault rumor is slim at best.
Butch has done wonders in stabilizing this program, however we now know he comes up short as a game coach. I truly dread the concept of a coaching change, I don't think it serves our best interests at this time. There are some undeniable issue that must be resolved, or that is likely what will happen. The revenue lost when this fanbase turns will be too much to deny.
Yeah...but some that left unhappy were his recruits, weren't they? I think he is very partial to his stars for sure.
You can't be a successful team with nothing but stars. You have to have role players and depth. And this guys, though not as talented, sweat and bleed and work just like the stars.
Yeah, I agree. But when you look at Jones recruits, Hurd for instance, they are obviously progressing well.
I believe quite a few were actually. I think I read the other day that there were 6, maybe, 4 stars from the 2013 class that have left? I seem to recall all of them being unhappy with coaching in some fashion.
Btw, as I'm typing this, we were just described as a "dumpster fire" by Childers and Neuheisel!! Yay, the thrills of being a Vol fan!! FML!!
Neuheisel would kill for this job....you could see it in his eyes last week as he was declaring Butch on the hotseat after not going two.
Neuheisel is a punk and a clown.
I want Chip Kelly or Gary Patterson
Write one of them a blank check and wash your hands with this garbage.
I think if he has to do something about the staff. You can't micromanage with his coaching resume so far. He is not Saban. He needs quality coaches. Look at UF. Think it is all the HC? There are definitely some deficiencies but there are a few bright spots as you stated.
Doesn't Chip Kelly have essentially the same offensive philosophy as Jones? I know he lit it up at Oregon but I also so what happened to him when he faced quality defenses like LSU, Stanford, Auburn, etc.
I agree with you on Patterson though. I really like him and would love to have him in Knoxville!

I agree. If CBJ could find quality assistants and TURN the reigns over to them, i think he would enjoy tremendous success. He recruits very well. He gets his players to buy in. He's a motivator. There are a lot of good things he does which would be a blessing to great assistants in the approach you recommend.
I disagree. Especially if administrative changes at the top are made. You basically give him the "keys to the kingdom" along with a big fat apology for snubbing him the first time around.
