Could the Arnett situation hurt recruiting?

Good to hear, opposing fans are starting to bash UT over this on the recruiting sites. I am hoping no one in the media writes an unfair story/article about this.

No. No. And no.

He knew the situation when he signed his LETTER OF INTENT. These kids know you can't go to a school, then switch schools to another major program regardless of the issue. I hate his situation, but DeAnthony is clearly upset he isn't getting his way.. And just making it worse with these sympathy letters to the media.

If it were truly about his father an mothers situation, he would be trying to find the QUICKEST way to get home and help. That's not the story here.

I'll ask this, if Dooley sticks to his guns, which he should, and DeAnthony decides to stay what then? All of this animosity is just gonna come back to him.

If it were my mother with this condition, I'd be on the first flight home and worry about what school I'm playing for later. You only get one mom and dad.

I'm willing to bet they either wear blue and yellow or green and white.. Wha wha wha.. How terrible of them to get involved in such a sensitive situation.

Apparently espn already has a negative article on it.....every coach is gonna use this against us....i agree with what Dooley did but i dont know if we can really afford the negative light when it comes to recruiting

The honest answer is yes. We don't look very nice in this situation.

Nice? really? That's not how this game is played. The university paid for his housing, meals, and classes/books for his freshman year. He's a member of UTs football program. And like any other program, if you ask for a release, it will be to a smaller school. It's the nature of the beast and these kids KNOW THAT. his father has been sick and he was aware of it.. Yet still chose TN.

He's homesick, lost his coach, and wants to go home and is mad that he can't do it his way. Not saying his dads health isn't part of it, but it isn't the whole thing or that would be his number one priority.. To be close to him. Not what damned school he gets the privilege of transferring to.

I was being sarcastic about what sites. But seriously , there is nothing they can say about us that hasn't been said in the last 4 years. At this point , their opinions don't mean **** to me. This is nothing compared to what we have been through. It's one player trying to get his way. Let the media spin it all they want. He asked for a release and we gave him what he asked for. It could always be worse. We could be Penn State.

Have you read ESPN's article? No negativity, whatsoever. Even end it by saying we have young super stars returning in Bray, Hunter, and Rogers.

I'm pretty sure our coaches are doing plenty of damage control with our recruits already. Better yet, it just solidifies what it means to play for our school. It's an HONOR, and you must honor that commitment. If we lose a recruit because they think e mean, they chances are we would probably be in a similar situation with them at some point.

I have faith in our coaches, and believe they will take necessary steps to combat all the sympathy and attention that Arnett is trying to get.

Didn't Bullard have to sit a year even though his dad passed away? Why all the fuss for this situation
