What's to stop Stanford, Princeton and Harvard's alumni billionaires and centimillionaires (just learned that word) from creating multi-billion dollar .orgs that would pay 6, 7 and 8 figure compensation packages to their athletes and coaches? Are we going to see the Princeton Amazonians on the field someday? Or the Harvard Metas?

Nothing, but at that point just buy a pro team.

That's what I've been saying: colleges should get out of the sports business and license their brands to pro/semi pro businesses. Collect stadium/facilities rentals, concession rentals, brand/logo deals....... and get out of the business of paying coaches millions, chasing players, etc.

College presidents and administrators aren't sports executives....... and shouldn't try to run multi-million dollar sports businesses.

I can tell you one thing fir sure. We’re already behind on NIL as a university. We had better get it together. This is a pay to play sport now. NIL will be the primary consideration. We already lost one of the nations best basketball commits over Duke having a better handle on the NIL
