And the glass is really hard to scratch, correct?

Glass is harder to scratch, but it's not the lens you have to worry about... it's the coatings. Glass has been on the way out for a while, and all the advances have been in poly or cr39 or whatever they want to market you. Even if it's durability you're concerned about, I'd still go with the poly lenses. The only real difference between glass and poly is acuity, and the difference is negligible to most people.

Until recently, if you had plastic lenses then they were 400s. Now they make the 580 in plastic and maybe it's my imagination but I still thought the glass looked better; enough to justify the weight and breakage potential.
I use them to see into the water, how good they look comes a very distant second. I use them to perform a job and i've had no complaints with them as far as that goes.

I meant how well they perform not how they look. If I felt the plastic 580s were as good as the glass 580s I would have gone with them. Might have been psychological but the glass seemed to perform better for me.

Misunderstood. You would think glass might make objects a little sharper anyway. I wear contacts so i'm looking through two sets of lenses already.

I have 2 current pair and a 3rd I no longer have. I've never had a scratch on any of them and I'm pretty rough on them. As others mentioned, they also have a great warranty in case of any issues.

I picked up a pair of Maui Jim's a few weeks ago (Kahuna). I've been very happy with them.
