After watching this Ohio game, well, I've essentially disconnected from this season. I will be glad to see us win, and disappointed to see us lose, but I can't afford to invest my emotional well being in this team in my last semester of college here at UT.

That being said, I have always considered the Debord hire a sort of very short term patch up to this ship rather than a natural hiring progression, and as soon as we reach proverbial land we would drop him and pursue a big time OC within a year or two of his initial hire. I have to think that Butch will be making that move at the end of the year, in our transition time from QB and possibly running back. (Mahoney absolutely must go, Jones and Hall prolonged his stay imo with their good play LY).

No matter what happens, I do believe Butch deserves another year, if for nothing more than bringing us a modicum of respectability. I never considered this year his make or break, but next year all bets are off. If he can keep us at the least 8-4 this year as well as next year, I say we stick with him. 2018 has looked more enticing to me than this year ever did, and if not for the insane hype we generated this offseason, our ceiling was likely 10-2. If we make reasonable improvements on the OL between now and 2018, we could have our best offense in over a decade.

Don't let short memories cloud judgement. We are not entitled to perennial championship contending seasons. My faith has wavered some, but Butch still holds it. Go Vols.

Did you think that team had a chance to beat Bama, FL, GA, or make it to the SEC championship game? Apathy was the buzz word for Dooley's tenure. Hope has been it for Butch's. And I'm still going to the FL game next week. Don't insinuate that I'm not a fan.

It kind of matters when it's already being tested by microbial genetics exams, biochem exams, etc. I bought into this team last year, and it has gone sour. Can't help you if you don't care about this team.

They still have a (slim) chance. You're getting apathetic and we are 3-0.

Life doesn't get more fun than college. Just a quick FYI for you.

Being a Tennessee Volunteers fan is a high-pressure undertaking.

There's a reason folks in Tennessee tend to have their first heart attack in their 40s, or not until their 80s. We weed them out early around these parts. :)

But one bit of advice: stick with your team. Stay engaged. Do not disconnect. There will be pain and disappointment, what'll feel like far more than your fair share. But there will be rewards, too, and they are much sweeter when you've paid for them over the years with unconditional love for the Orange.

Go Vols!

My experience as long as I can remember is we seem to play to the level of competition. I don't know if we can win the East, but we will be in every game. It would be nice to blow out FLA and Bama, but I imagine they will be nail biters like almost every game so far. VT wasn't only because they self destructed.

Thanks for the encouragement. My feelings on football always subside after a couple days and a few 12 packs. We haven't seen how we stack up to real competition yet, so there's room to believe in. Guess it's easy to get caught up in a game like this while you're drinking on an empty stomach. On to the next one.

Put your big boy pants on and toughen up a little. We are 3-0 idc how bad we have looked getting there we are UNBEATEN. Would you rather trade with last years team who played extremely good in the 1st half and then threw away in the 2nd? Or a team that has already had to fight adversity early and overcame it?

Speak for yourself, it got WAY better after I graduated from UT!

I've only been out for about 4 years now. I guess I'm still in the 20s grind I guess.

It hasn't been bad, but certainly not as fun.

I'll take the team that comes in fired up and plays toe to toe with some of the best teams in the country instead of this crap. You think this team would win those games? I think not.

Rumor I heard the other day is.. This is Debords last year.. Sucks he won't quit now..

A new AD is arriving. CBJ and this staff needs to continue winning even if it's ugly. If they crap the bed and start a losing streak with the poor product on The Hill this season, CBJ's fate will be sealed even if he's given one more season. Nex t week is a freakin' biggy now IMO.

This team is just preparing you for a serious romantic relationship with a female.

That can really damage your emotional well being.
