Conflicting rumors all over the place...(Kevin Sumlin)

That's true to an extent, I still feel like firing Dooley would be hard on the program no matter what.
I think you are absolutely right...if another question mark (which is what Dooley was) were to succeed him. I'm sure we'd lose some assistants that I'd love to keep (Baggett, Wilcox, Thompson, Sirmon), and some recruits as well. But there is plenty of time to rebound in both areas, if a homerun hire were to be made.

Gary Patterson, at TCU, is the one coach I think could get VolNation's hope back up. They were extremely high after Kiffin started amassing an all-star staff, and recruiting came out of the gutter (under Fulmer) suddenly, and we had a top 10 class for the first time in years.

So, I don't think it would affect too much. Most of the players on this team are still Freshman and Sophomores, who have only played for 1 or 2 coaches thus far.

At this point, I'll trust Hart to make the right call. If Dooley, like Kiffin, surrounds himself with better coaches where change needs to be made (OL, OC?), then even if he is not that competent, they can make him look good.

From FootballScoop.com:

Kevin Sumlin: We have learned that another major university is about to launch a huge offer for Kevin Sumlin.

I'm thinking it's Texas A&M but who knows at this point. I am one of the few who would be ecstatic if SUmlin replaced Dooley.

There is no way in heck Patterson comes here guys. TCU is about to join the Big 12(10) so I'm guessing we have nothing more to offer than TCU does....

Count me in that crowd, but my guess is that as close as we may get to be proven correct is the beatdown he gives Dooley if he takes the aTM job and we play them.

Not much of a consolation prize, but UT is chalked full of apathethic decision makers.

It would be Sumlin's first year and Dooley's third, but all we'll here is how bad Dooley had it when he came to UT. Some coaches make do with what they've got--and recruit players (JUCO or stud Frosh) to fix the personnel problems in short order.

And, they don't teach their QB's how to develop attitudes that time away from football is better than a bowl game, so why not lay down for Kentucky.

And, their fans have a higher committment of football than do ours. It's a part of TCU's culture. Excuses are more a part of ours.

Higher committment to football than Tennessee?

Rediculous.

Do you see them laying down against a Kentucky to avoid a bowl game? Or, quitting against an Akry to take another5 TD beatdown from a conference opponent?

Their fans wouldn't stand for it. Ours are fine with it.

Yep. We are fine with it. You got us.

DoolAids don't want the top HFC candidate available in Sumlin, they don't want Fulmer back, they just want to keep the trend of losing seasons going.

**** that.

11th of 12 teasm in the SEC is NOT mediocrity. It's bad football.

As far as money, stadium, facilities, and passion from the fanbase tcu cant hold a candle to Tennessee's committment to football....and in case you haven't noticed the UT fanbase is pretty PO'd right now.

I'm glad we have better toilet bowls than TCU has. But, I'd far rather have a real bowl.

Thanks to Mike Hamilton for that.

Part of the UT fanbase is PO'd, but there are plenty of folks here posting nonsense tributes to Dooley... after some of the worst football in Tenneseee history.

If we're not committing to winning, we're not committed at all.

I'm past sick of playing bad football too. Where the fanbase is divided is the best way to get back to what we're use to...WINNING.

ps...Dont judge the Tennessee fan base by what you read on VN. It's a small sample and the loudest on here are either trolls or a$$es....or both.

Im not sure why you think sumlin would be a great hire. I like him dont get me wrong but most of his success is tied to keenum beating inferior opponents. Lets see what happens next year and if somebody gets him before then so be it. We need a proven guy at a bigger level if we are replacing dooley now. We dont need another hire and hope.

TCU just got/is getting a major rennovation, so i would probably rather tinkle at their stadium

See, it didn't take those guys long to close that gap! :hi:

Congrats to them... hope they send their coach, now. We need help and it seems they could find another one.

Or, would they like to trade... straight up?
