Confident Oklahoma Fans

Oh yes.. Akron and Tulsa strike fear in the entirety of the college fotball world, and you play in a weak, top heavy conference, but our strength of schedule is getting called out.

How are we a "weak top heavy conference" exactly? There are two bad teams in Kansas and Iowa State. Texas is down but they still have players. Everybody else is solid.

I've spent quite a bit of time in TN and have some good friends that are big Vol alums/backers. They took me to the Vol/Bama game in 2004 and I loved everything about the atmosphere, vol navy, the Tennessee river going right by the stadium, the stadium and the tradition. Really outstanding weekend.

Stoops has been good about scheduling a marquee team in our non conference schedule. We've had Oregon, Washington, ND, Bama, UCLA, Florida state, Miami, Tennessee and next year we do a home and home with Ohio state.

One thing that most Okies pride themselves on is being very hospitable with the visiting teams. We had a great home and home with Bama, Florida state, and ND. I expect it to be that way when we get to Knoxville.

Unfortunately, I won't be in Knoxville this weekend, but really excited about watching anyway. I was in Norman last year and was incredibly disappointed you lot didn't bring your band. I've always loved Rocky Top and will probably be humming along as I watch on TV even as I root on the Sooners. From everything I've read this week it seems like both teams have as many questions as they do reasons to be confident, but I'm still predicting the Sooners by a touchdown and a field goal. It just seems like we may still be one step ahead of you guys even though Butch seems like he's doing good things. For what it's worth, here's to no injuries for either side!

Y'all were great last year to the point of being overly nice. I had numerous people, before the game, who thanked me for coming. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to say you're welcome?

On another note, I had NEVER seen any vehicle with OU decals/tags in my small town in middle TN. The Monday I get back, I saw 2 or 3 in a 20 minute period. Since then, I must see one a week. There's either a lot of bandwagon hoppers or everyone in OK moved out after that game.

Thanking people for following their team is rather an awkward thing to say. Either they're surprised to see you follow your team or that you'd follow them to Norman.

Surprised you were seeing many OU stickers towards the last half of the season...we stunk it up.

This game makes me nervous. It's the type of game Tennessee hasn't won in years and if they come in here and blow the Vols out it would be worse than Florida last year

This is exactly where I'm at. I have no confidence we can win this type of game because we haven't done it in almost a decade.

Question. If the Vols played the tide annually in Birmingham, AL would Vol fans consider that a neutral site. Playing Texas in Dallas is not a traditional road game but it darn sure is not a neutral site either.

Not unlike Georgia vs Florida in Jacksonville, FL. I am certain the Bulldog fans would much prefer the game be played annually in Atlanta, GA.

Looks pretty neutral to me, crowd is always 50/50.

i've held my post for days. i just dont get your guys logic. Oklahoma is a year older also, much better on offense, and defense. your playing the number #1 football program all of time!!! if you guys are hanging your hat on crowd noise and freshman fill ins. You guys are in serious trouble. respect your program, but use your noggins...OKLAHOMA is coming to town and hell is coming with them! hell our back up QB beat you guys by 24 last year! :loco:

While the city of Dallas is certainly pro-Texas, the game down there is big for OU in terms of recruiting. It benefits us to play it down there and it makes it that much sweeter when we win!

As for the debate about number of fans/neutral site, OU/Texas simply isn't comparable. Not merely because of the number of fans cheering against you, but because it's a COMPLETELY different atmosphere. In some ways it can be even more electric than a massive stadium full of fans all cheering for the same team. The atmosphere in the stadium is constantly back and forth and the tension builds all Friday night around the city and Saturday at the fair. It's a really special game/rivalry and I wouldn't compare it to the Sooners going to Knoxville on Saturday. It's just too different. That being said, I expect big things from the Vols' faithful. I'm sure you'll all make for a great football game!

I hope the Sooners are overlooking us as much as you are. After Saturday, I expect you will come back down to earth.

There most certainly is a good orange. Tennessee's color scheme is one of the most distinctive in all of college football and we take great pride in it.

As well you should. No offense intended. Hating the color orange is just an Oklahoma thing. If you had to deal with Texas and OKie state fans all the time, you might even become self loathing. Lol
