Question. If the Vols played the tide annually in Birmingham, AL would Vol fans consider that a neutral site. Playing Texas in Dallas is not a traditional road game but it darn sure is not a neutral site either.

Not unlike Georgia vs Florida in Jacksonville, FL. I am certain the Bulldog fans would much prefer the game be played annually in Atlanta, GA.

Tennessee has to play very well for the Neyland stadium crowd to be a factor, it's that simple. Been in the stadium many times when we were playing well and I'm certain it was hell on the opposing team. Also been in there many times WHEN THE TEAM WAS NOT PLAYING WELL and the opposing team(s) appeared to not be able to care less. The team will have to give the 102455 faithful reason to be enthused and involved in the game. Just the way it is.

I don't want to speak for Dawgs or Gators, but I think they both like meeting up in Jacksonville every year. UGa just as much as UF.

If you guys (OU) don't like it, just get out of it. When you're the home team, you get to decide where home is, right? So make them play you in Norman or Enid or Oklahoma City, or wherever you like. As long as they have to cross the Red River to get to the game, it's still the Red River Rivalry, right? :)

I'm not saying I'm a proponent of you guys abandoning this tradition. I'm just saying that it can't be that unbalanced for you, or your university would've put an end to it long ago.

I honestly think a lot of Sooners (fans and players, too) are going to be surprised at how loud and intimidating a venue can actually be. I think maybe old Bob is a little off, if he's speaking for anyone other than himself.

We'll see on Saturday. :good!:

I hear oil will stay below $75 barrel indefinitely (years) no matter what happens.

The price on silver and gold is basically fixed similar to oil. It will remain at a pretty much constant range of value with no large fluctuations.

If the Russian ruble ever hits 90/1 to the dollar it's the sign WW3 is a go.

Oh, TN IS a beautiful place. But...as a football fan, I'll take scorched earth looks and National Championships over beautiful places and a program still trying to find it's stride at the moment. :)

We have had a few of those NC's too and 2000 from your last one is only two years sooner than ours. UT's record and beautiful East Tennessee and where our program is heading with CBJ.

Half of the stadium is set aside for OU and the other is set aside for Texas just like Uga vs. Florida. You don't have 93k against OU and that's the point. Around half of that is for OU fans.

Florida or Georgia also wouldn't use the Jacksonville game in an argument about how many opposing fans they play in front of because it's split in half. They also play at Neyland and Alabama.

Net, net. I am taking 5 days touring the state of Tennessee and the UT campus. I am coming because of Tennessee's long standing tradition as a football power that has played for decades in a stadium seating over 100,000. I am coming because of the respect I have as well as most all of the true OU fans and the OU football team have for all that is Tennessee Volunteer.

However OU is a football program that has played as many big football games on the road as any team in the history of college football. It is poppycock to think they are going to be intimidated because the crowd noise at Neyland might be a little more than they generally experience.

One of your guys in here said something along the lines of us as a team/fans not feeling like Gaylord was an intimidating place to play so why should it be any different? And my rebuttal was we play in multiple stadiums equivalent to that already so why should we? I'm not saying they haven't experienced big time games or environments, but it's a fact this team specifically and OU in general has never played in front of 100k people, especially when 95% are against you. The magnitude is irrelevant because you've played in more meaningful games than this one. Ultimately it's how the teams play and nothing more, but it's also foolish to think that an additional 20-30k fans can't help create mistakes at the LOS. Which is all most are saying.

You're both exactly 3 hrs from Dallas and tickets are split evenly; that's neutral. The only difference is Jacksonville is 60 miles from Gainesville and like 5 hrs from Athens. Same with B'ham for us and Bama. I've been to the UF-UGA game and the fandom is as close to 50/50 as it gets. My boss is an OU alum and season ticket holder who goes to Dallas every year and he's never considered that anything other than a neutral site game in its truest meaning.

Most OU or TX fans would never consider changing the game from the Cotton Bowl. It's not just a game it's an event. It's heresy to even suggest it.

The players on the field will decide the game. As a UT fan we take pride in having a massive stadium that we fill up whether we are good or bad. Neyland stadium is iconic and I can't name a better venue in college football especially at night on the river. It will be a stadium and environment ou has never seen and a hostile crowd that's bigger than any crowd the ou program in its long historic history has ever played in front of. When the team and the ou fans show up they will be like holy hell now this is what a stadium should look like. The players and coaches will be impressed and it might take a series or so to settle in. We haven't been good at home in years because we haven't had the team to beat anybody, now we do and that will amp it up even more. Stoops is a hall of fame coach and ou is lucky to have him, he will have his team ready and both teams will give their best shot. For all Oklahoma fans take it in because this isn't Florida state or notre dame. This is arguably the most iconic stadium in college football and at its peak 105k+ it's going to be a great scene for 2 college heavyweights of all time. Knoxville is a pretty awesome place and tenn fans are proud of what we have and take enormous pride in it. But at the end of the day the players on the field will decide the game not the stadium, I just hope ou fans take it all in and enjoy it because this is a special place.

That's what I'm saying. Your own fans are arguing it's hardly considered neutral because it falls across state lines. Only way it's more neutral is if you played somewhere in AR that was the exact same distance for both fanbases.
